Chapter 17: Vincent

"What? Zarro, that doesn't make sense. You have no right to punish me for what I did when you did something even worse! That's ridiculous." I role my eyes. "I can't believe you."

"I did what I thought was right at the time! I couldn't let anybody find out about what we did! Leaders aren't supposed to break the rules. We both had to make sacrifices."

"Wait, so you and Adriana had twins together, but only one of them is dead? I'm so lost..." Agatha mutters.

"Yes."

"Wait... I thought if witches and vampires... I thought she would be in love with you forever? You know... uncontrollably? She doesn't seem to love you... she seems to hate you."

"It's more like an obssessive compulsive disorder... She's a bit obsessed with revenge..."

"Because you broke her heart!" Clara yells, "How can you be so unsympathetic?"

"It's not my problem! I tried to fix it, but I couldn't."

"Why does that happen anyway?" Agatha asks, "I've been wondering that ever since I found out.

"I think the witches long ago cast a spell..." Zarro shakes his head. "I'm not sure."

"Of course they did." Clara rolls her eyes.

"How would you go about removing that spell?" I ask Clara. She blushes when she answers.

"I don't know. I'd have to ask one of the elders.

"Wait, so... what does that mean for Tarynn?" Agatha asks, puzzled.

"I guess... I guess that makes her part vampire." Clara says and Agatha's eyes widen.

"So she has more powers than all of us?" she mutters. "What happens if she decides to use them against us?"

"Her vampire side hasn't been awakened yet." Zarro interrupts.

"A vampire turns by drinking blood on a full moon." I finish.

"Does Tarynn know that?" Clara asks with a worried look on her face.

"I hope not..." he says.

"Why?"

"Because if she turns into a vampire, she'll be an anomaly of nature. She will still have the witch genes inside of her. All the different magic forces will flood into her at once and she won't be able to control it all..."

"So what will happen to her if she becomes a vampire and witch?"

"She'll have so much power that she'll die... Unless..."

"Unless what?"

"Unless she has the ability to control it..."

"How can you control something as powerful as that?" I ask. "It doesn't sound easy."

"She would have to have extensive control over the powers she is already capable of. Not just some control, complete control. That way the powers she has now would not interact as much with the powers she could gain."

"Thank goodness she hasn't mastered her powers."

"Actually... she has..." Clara says, biting her lip, "Adriana was training her and teaching her Black Magic so she could develop her powers. I don't think Adriana would teach her that unless she had mastered all her other powers, too."

"Well that just makes everything worse, doesn't it?" Zarro sighs. "Thankfully it isn't a full moon tonight, so we don't have to worry about this right now. We have time to think out a plan."
