lucid dreamer
chapter one
LUCY
I sat up straight as if a hammer hit me in my spine. Releasing a gasp, I placed a hand my racing heart, while sweat poured down my face. "W-What kind of dream was that?"
My gaze averted towards the desk and was only able to see a small yellow laced notebook on top, displaying itself neatly. I let out a huge sigh, relieved that the notebook has been stolen.
"Who on earth was that man in my dream? And how did he get my notebook just like that?" I questioned herself without an answer, and stood up, going straight for the notebook.
I grabbed a pink pen and opened the notebook, suddenly writing the first few sentences in the blink of an eye.
What was so important about this book, you say? Well, this notebook is filled with all my expectations when I find my future husband. Silly, isn't it?
Well, I can't help it, I'm a romantic that way.
Dear Future Husband, I wrote.
I was woken up by the strange dream I had. In the dream, was a man who was in a café. He wore some casual clothes, and a matching brown beanie and some black glasses.
I saw him gesture to his coffee and sipped on it, while reading my notebook. If only I had the urge to grab the notebook from him, but since I am not a lucid dreamer, I was only able to stand and watch.
He stood up,
"He stood up..." I mumbled, losing the words to describe the rest of the dream.
He stood up, and just like that, he was already in a business suit. Now tell me, who can do that?
Well, it was a dream anyway.
I caught him placing the notebook on his case, and mumbling something I could not forget.
"I can be your future husband. Just wait and see."
Strange, huh? I wonder if that dream meant something. Like, what if this was a sign that I'm going to meet you soon? Oh, if only you were here right now, encaging me with your strong, muscular arms and comforting me with words of wisdom.
I'll be waiting, my dear future husband.
Truly yous,
L.
I let out a sigh as I lose myself in a daydream. I imagined what he'd be like if I met him. Have courage, Lucy! One day, your ideal future husband will come to you, and you know it!
But for now, you must take your breakfast.
Having the thought of eating breakfast alone was making me sadder and sadder each day, so I decided to list that down in my notebook as well.
My house is a huge mansion, you see. My father left it to me after he died, and so now, the mansion Is mine. We have everyday maids always asking me questions on which I should pick to redecorate the place, and which elite companies I should attend.
Ever since my dad passed away, the whole Heartfilia business has gone bankrupt, but that doesn't mean that I have to work hard to earn it back!
"Ms. Lucy," I heard Spetto-san say as she entered my room,"you have a guest."
I nodded as an acceptance while Spetto went out of the door, revealing a blue-haired girl with shades on top of her head.
"Lu-chan!" That familiar voice reached my ears as I let out a gasp, turning my head to the voice.
"Levy-chan!" I perked, standing up while running to give her a bone-crushing hug. "I missed you so much! How long has it been?"
She let go of the hug and shrugged,"I don't know, since the day you became a successful photographer!" We both giggled and gave each other small, yet warming hugs. This is Levy McGarden, she was—and still is my best friend who now works as an author.
It's been a long six months since I haven't seen this blue furball.
"So! I saw in one of your letters that you started writing notes about your ideal future husband?" She held a letter with my handwriting on it. I nodded eagerly, throwing my yellow notebook to her,"Go ahead, indulge yourself."

"Woah, you really do expect a lot from your future husband." Levy closed the notebook, sighing.
I peeked my head out of the bathroom, brushing my teeth, but at the same time, concerning myself with Levy,"What's the matter? You don't like my taste for boys?"
She allowed herself to sit down on my bed, her head shaking,"Nope, it's just..." She faced me, who was now out of the bathroom and massaging my wet hair with a towel. "Do you really experience these stuff everyday?"
I powdered myself, and stared at Levy through the mirror,"Well, yeah," I busied myself with the lotions and the sweet scented colognes, "it's quite bothering and sad at times, but having made that notebook as a reason, I would want my future husband to do the opposite."
I applied the lotion and ran it over through my legs and arms, spreading it gently. And as if on cue, I was already picking what clothes to wear for work.
"What should I pick..." I mumbled to myself, however realizing that I have been spending my time search for work clothes when...
I don't even have a job.
"Don't have a job, don't you?" Levy smirked at my silent pause. I sighed, walking around like nothing happened,"What do you mean I don't have a job? Of course I have a job! Stop saying nonsense, Levy-chan! Did you take your pills today? Did Gajeel do something to you again—"
Levy gasped,"Lu-chan!"
I stopped on my tracks, facing her with worry filled in my eyes,"Yes?" I spoke, my voice rather high-pitched. Levy stood up, walking towards me with her hands on her hips,"First of all," she took a step,"Gajeel and I didn't do anything bad. Second of all," she took another step, but bigger,"I know you don't have a job."
She paused on her step, and placed held my shoulders,"Lu-chan, I can help you find one."
"How?" I muttered with disappointment in my face.
Levy smiled, suddenly reaching for the right clothes for me to wear and spreading my lips into a smile,"I know one job fitted for a photographer."
She gave me my Nixon, as she winked at me, going out of my room,"I'll be waiting."
Well, that escalated quickly.
