Chapter Three (Kapital Drei): Nouns and Their Genders In the Nominative Case

One of the most important parts of the German language is the nouns and their genders. There's absolutely no way to learn German without knowing the genders. They're just so crucial to this language and bend and twine with it as you go.  

First, there are the definite and indefinite articles. German nouns wll either be masculine, feminine, or neuter. 

Definite Articles (The)

Masculine: der

Feminine: die

Neuter: das

Indefinite Articles (A/An)

Masculine: ein

Feminine: eine

Neuter: ein

der Tisch- the table   der Schreibtisch- the desk   der Stuhl- the chair   der Lehrer- the male teacher

ein Tisch- a table   ein Schreibtisch- a desk   ein Stuhl- a chair 

die Tasche- the bag   die Uhr- the clock   die Lerherin- the female teacher
