***MARLI POV***
Walking to the deadheads I sighed. I had a raging crush on Newt but he would never like me back. Obviously, I would just have to deal with it.

I saw Newt and waved at him, before jogging over and plopping down next to him.
"Hey Marli." He said gently.
"Hey Newtie" I replied using the nickname I had given him.
"Uh I was wondering uh..." He trailed off.
"Wondering what?"
"Wouldyoubemygirlfriend?" He spouted so quickly I could barely hear him.
"Eh? I didn't catch that." I smirked.
"Marli, would you be my uh... Girlfriend?" He said hopefully.

To be honest I didn't answer that with words straight away. I just reached up and gave him a huge hug. "Yes Newt of course!" I whispered happily into his neck.

Before I knew it, Newt grabbed my hand and pulled me into a gentle kiss. It was my first, but it would be the best. Our bodies weren't even an inch apart! Our lips moved in sync for a little until we pulled away. We lay back on the grass holding hands.

Night began to fall as we walked back to the homestead. I glanced at Newt and he took my hand. Suddenly there was a crash and an annoyed yell.
"FOR SHUCKS SAKE YOU MORON!" It was Gally yelling at Chuck. Chuck whimpered something and Gally slapped him across the face.

Newt tried to hold me back but I stormed over and punched Gally in the face.
"Marli why?" Newt asked.
"Well he shouldn't have slapped Chuck!" I said with a smirk.
"Fine." Newt said fake-sulking. I thought Gally was, to put it bluntly, cruel. That's the only way to put it. I mean,  who in their right mind would slap an innocent, 12 year old kid who wouldn't hurt a fly!

Of course, Alby had told me that Gally had been stung by a griever, but to me, that gave him no right to hit a child younger then him.

We left Gally with our middle fingers raised while we laughed like crazy at his annoyed face. You know, I was starting to like it here...
