"You know, maybe this is a bad idea." I say nervously which was unusual for me, it has been long since I've been nervous about anything and the fact that a couple of close friends from Maks could make me nervous, makes me mad at myself.
What is it with these brothers?
Maks who was in the drivers seat next to me, laughs at me. "No, it's a brilliant idea." He looks at be briefly. "Now stop being such a coward. They're only my friends."
He had to drag me out of the house because I had been hesitant about stepping out. I hadn't even dressed and only sat on my bed, doing nothing.
When he rang the doorbell I had told him to go fuck off to go but instead of leaving he kept ringing and ringing making me go insane.
As I opened the door he pushed me aside and barged into my room telling me to put some clothes on.
Reluctantly I obeyed while cursing under my breath but he had only laughed at me and told me to hurry it up.
At the beginning I was mad at him for forcing me but right now I felt really uncomfortable sitting here, driving towards hell.
For years I've had no social interaction only with Gale but that doesn't really count since I didn't really ever interact with him.
I breathe out a long span of air, trying to calm my nerves when he suddenly puts his hand on my knee reassuringly. "You're gonna have a great time." He nods at me emphasizing his words.
I nod as well, not that I suddenly felt better or reassured, rather because I was trying to go along with his enthusiasm and match his excitement.
After a while of silence he pulls in front of a house with a couple of cars parked in front of it.
I turn to him with a confused look. "What is that?"
He steps out of the car without responding and walk towards my side opening the passenger door. "Come on."
I glare at him as I cross my arms defiantly and stay seated in his car.
He looks at me for a second and then sighs as he rubs his forehead in stress. "Look, you can either come with me or stay here until I'm ready to go." He leans in closer with an annoying grin. "But believe me it's gonna take a long time." Then he just leavs me there like that without a back glance.
I humpf in annoyance and stobborness, but after a while I slump my shoulders in defeat.
Maybe I was being a little bit childish about all of this. I mean Maks was only trying to help me in a way that no one has done before. I groan into the car and lean my head back as I realize that I will have to go in there no matter what.
Inch by inch I slowly step out into the frosty air as I look up to get a better impression of the premises. I sigh and begin to move towards the door which was opened from the outside so I step in carefully not wanting to instrude or rather not wanting to announce my presence.
As I walk closer into the house I hear a faint Latin song playing somewhere and voices speaking animatedly. I start feeling a strange feeling in the pit of my stomach making me halt for a moment.
I felt like I was intruding into something intimate between close friends.
A stranger in a place full of family.
I am startled when someone staggers out of the the room where the music was coming from. He had almost light ginger hair, giving him a somehow nerdy feel with his glasses. But he seemed nice at least from my first impression.
He comes to a halt as he notices me just standing there awkwardly. "Hey, you looking for somebody?"
I stand there awkwardly looking at anything but him. "Uh, yeah, I'm Maks' ..." I trail off as I try to figure out what relationship him and I had. "I guess you could say friend."
