After what felt like hours of just staring at each other suddenly the moment was disrupted when the was a thunderous knock on the door.
Misaki immediately snapped out of his trance and jumped up, completely flustered.
"Yata-san, are you in there? Open up!" He heard Kamamoto's familiar voice from behind the door.
Misaki looked around desperately and remembered the blanket Saruhiko was previously using.
"Quick, hide!" Misaki said as he threw the blanket over Saruhiko who complained.
Misaki rushed over to the door and opened it for Kamamoto.
"Y-yo, Kamamoto!" Misaki said as he breathed heavily perhaps out of nervousness.
"Yata-san you haven't come down to the bar all day, it's so uncommon for you. Kusanagi-san was growing worried." Kamamoto said, clearly expressing concern.
"Ah that. Um... I'm just feeling unwell! See, look how flustered I am!" Misaki lied but he sounded so fake and unnatural.
Saruhiko face palmed when he heard Misaki's terrible lie.
Kamamoto seemed unconvinced but he just decided that Misaki probably just need some privacy.
"Ah well... get well soon, Yata-san. I'll leave you be for now." Kamamoto said seeming confused.
"Ah- yes I will! Thank you." Misaki said as he hastily shut the door on Kamamoto.
He'd have to apologise to Kamamoto later on. But, he didn't really want to explain to Kamamoto why Saruhiko was in his apartment.
Saruhiko tossed the blanket off of his head with a grumpy sigh.
"Why did you do that?" Saruhiko was glaring daggers at Misaki.
"I don't want to cause trouble, I would be asked so many questions, you know!"
Misaki folded his arms. "Aren't you leaving yet... seriously! Why do you need to stay here!?"
"I don't feel like moving." Saruhiko was just trying to be difficult now.
Misaki frowned and threw himself onto the lounge with a big sigh.
He really, really, REALLY didn't know how he felt about Saruhiko just showing up and acting so casual with him.
He had gone through this so many times in his mind but he still couldn't figure out how he felt.
Saruhiko, who was still sitting on the floor remained completely silent.
Perhaps he is unsure about how he feels too, Misaki thought to himself.
Saruhiko had helped him save Anna which gave Misaki a sign that perhaps the old Saruhiko wasn't gone.
His facial expression softened as he looked at Saruhiko sitting on the floor seeming bored.
This whole situation seemed familiar almost, as if he had seen this before.
As he was staring, lost deeply in his thoughts, Saruhiko spoke up.
"I'm hungry."
Misaki looked at him dumbfounded. That was something he remembered Saruhiko often telling him but after not hearing it for such a long time, it caught him off guard.
"R-right... you haven't eaten..."
Saruhiko just looked at him expecting Misaki to just understand his line of thoughts.
"Is simple pineapple slices okay? I don't really have much else..." Misaki asked as he walked towards the kitchen to grab some canned pineapple.
Saruhiko hummed as to give the ok.
He still remembers clearly every single food Saruhiko likes and dislikes and he was positive that there were way more dislikes then likes.
Once Misaki had the pineapple slices ready he walked over with them in a bowl. He held it out to Saruhiko.
"Here, it's not much... I don't feel like cooking.. sorry." Misaki said avoiding Saruhiko's gaze.
Saruhiko took the bowl and stared at Misaki momentarily.
"Feed me."
"Eh?"
"I said l... feed me, Mi~sa~ki." Saruhiko grinned a sadistic grin as he looked up at Misaki.
"No way would I ever! You can feed yourself just fine!" Misaki yelled.
"I'm sore from the injuries..."
"No way."
"Misaki..." Saruhiko said slightly calmer.
"Hm?" Misaki looked at him almost afraid of what he would say.
"Please?"
This took Misaki way off guard. Saruhiko was acting innocent and needy and Misaki was slightly terrified but at the same time it really hit his soft spot of Saruhiko.
"F-fine, only this once." Misaki said turning away from Saruhiko slightly.
Misaki jabbed the fork into one of the pineapple slices and shakily held it up towards the taller boy's mouth.
Saruhiko happily ate the slice. He sat there, chewing and looking pleased with himself.
Misaki wasn't sure why but he just assumed it's because Saruhiko successfully made him make of a fool of himself.
The process continued for a while until Saruhiko suddenly pulled Misaki's hand closer and licked in between his fingers.
Misaki's eyes widened and shivers went down his spine. He wasn't really sure how to process what just happened but he did yell out and pulled away.
Well, he attempted to pull away but Saruhiko held on to his hand tight and continued.
"What the heck, Saru!?!?" Misaki let out a flustered yelp.
"Mi~sa~ki." Saruhiko said in his infamous way as he looked up at Misaki with almost hazy eyes.
