MOSES

"Can I have your attention please!" the school principal called from the front of the small school assembly. There were only about 300 students left at the school, out of 680, roughly, it was crazy. Nathan and I were on the side, waiting for the big announcement. The principal had taken us aside yesterday and broke out the big news. Rumours had spread that the school would be closing at the end of the year, that was only half true.

"Where's Tao from?" Nathan whispered to me. I shrugged, looking at him.

"I don't know, why?" I frowned.

"Well when the school closes, you and I have each other, the twins have each other. Destry stays around here so he's close to Ethan and James from the year above. But what about Tao?" Nathan explained. I thought about it, biting my lip. He was right, I had no idea where Tao was going to go after this. We might never see him again.

"Thank you," the prinp continued, sighing. "As I will assume you've all heard by now, the school will be closing down. I'm here today to officially tell you that these rumours are true. The school will officially close it's gates for the last time in just a few weeks. Unfortunately, the damage to the school is too severe for you all to be able to live here. The bureau have therefore decided to close us down, permanently. The building will be demolished at a later date. There is no point petitioning, the decision is final."

There was a hole in my heart. This school was my second home, it was the place Nathan and I got together... I didn't want to let it go. Nate sensed my mood and patted my leg, I smiled to him, but we both knew it was faked.

We'd told Tao the other morning that he'd have the rest of the year here, so he wouldn't have to worry. Now he was being told he only had a few short weeks. I wasn't looking forward to facing him. And we haven't heard from Destry either. He left early that morning, and came back late at night. Not many people have seen him since. Even Tao hasn't seen him around, and they live together. We didn't even see him come in to the assembly this morning.

"Dismissed," Principal sighed, stepping away from the microphone. I felt for him, he'd put so much effort into running this school and keeping it going.

"You da man, prinp," Nate said to him, getting up and shaking his hand.

"Nathan," the Principal nodded, amused.

"Nah man, we're serious," I said to him, patting his shoulder.

"Don't tell anyone, but I'm going to miss you two the most," he said. That hit me right in the feels. It just didn't sit right. I don't want to go! YOU CAN'T MAKE ME! I mean you can, but you can't, I refuse.

"Sir, we're going to miss you too," I told him, pouting.

"Aw, don't," he cringed, looking away. "You're going to make me cry."

Students were filing out of the hall now in a loud chatter, everyone discussing the school closing all at the same time. I scanned the faces, looking for the ones I knew best. Tao was standing to the side near the door, doing the same thing as me. Our eyes met for a second, and then he looked away. Guilt swelled in my stomach. Well then, I'm just going to have to make the last few weeks here the best freaking weeks of our lives.

TAO

I was standing to the side near the door, scanning the faces of the moving crowd for Destry. My eyes met Moses across the room, standing with Nathan and the Principal, and I quickly looked away. He's betrayed me twice now. The second time wasn't even his fault, but it's the one that hurt the most. I didn't want to leave.
