Her parents walked in behind her, so David introduced himself, shaking their hands. They seemed nice enough, on the outside. Macy and David walked up to the register to buy the tickets, she was significantly shorter than him. He looked down at her and she looked up at him, she was smiling ear to ear. "This is just so awesome!" She said excitedly, bumping his arm with her elbow. "Look at us!" "I agree, this is great!" David said back.
They got into their seats and started cuddling right away. They had been waiting for this moment for what seemed like forever. He had his arm around her, holding her hand, while she gently moved her hand back and forth across his leg. They went to see what they thought was going to be a romance movie, but ended up being just a drama. David could feel that Macy wanted to be kissed, she kept looking up at him, with want in her eyes. He wanted to kiss her too, but he couldn't bring himself to do it. He was too afraid that he would mess it up. He had never kissed a girl before, and he wanted it to be perfect. As long as it was with Macy though, it didn't really matter all that much.
Eventually the movie ended, and nothing much happened, he didn't end up kissing her, he couldn't bring himself too, as much as he tried. As they were walking out of the theater, Macy started to slow down her pace, so David did too, waiting for her. She let everyone else in the theater pass, and when everyone got out of sight, she said "so, how about a birthday kiss?" He was relieved, and embarrassed at the same time. He didn't want it to come down to her needing to ask for it, but it did. She grabbed his head and went in for the kiss, he saw that the height was a problem, so he ducked down a bit, but overcompensated, and ended up kind of half kissing her mouth, half kissing the area next to her nose.
If he knew that was the only chance he would ever get to kiss her, he would have just done it again, but he didn't. And now he has to live with that for the rest of his life. She gave him his birthday present, and got in her Parents' van to leave. David walked out to his Dad's car and got in. The reality hadn't hit him yet, of how horrible that date went. How he was too much of a little bitch to make a move. When he got home, he called her on skype and they talked for a while. He opened his gift, which was a painting she made, a bag of skittles (his favorite candy), a birthday card, that read "You're so amazing! Hope this day is spectacular for you! :) - <3 Macy" and best of all, an amazing hand-made bracelet, that he put on and vowed to keep it on as long as he could, as a symbol of their love.
After skyping for a few hours, she wished him a happy birthday, and they hung up. He was pretty tired, he had a long day, so he climbed into bed and tried to go to sleep.... Then it hit him. He realized all at once how much he had fucked up, it hit him like a ton of bricks. He starting sobbing uncontrollably, thinking that he had screwed things up with Macy, the love of his life. He tried to calm himself down for hours, nothing was working. He took a cold shower, but that didn't help, he fell to his knees in the shower, lied down, curled into a ball and proceeded to sob in there for another 20 minutes or so. He was eventually able to stop crying. Not because he felt better, but because he just couldn't cry anymore. He felt totally open with Macy, like he could tell her anything. And he did. He sent her a message on skype, telling her that he'd been crying for the past few hours, worrying that he had messed everything up. She convinced him that that wasn't the case, and he finally calmed down, and was able to get some rest.
