When Roads Cross

Chapter 5

ALEX'S P.O.V

After an hour of crying and eating chips with Ellie we both drove in my little Ford over to her apartment block.
It was a small building only containing few apartments but to her it was home.

We arrived and chucked all our stuff on the floor I made my way to the kitchen almost by default and grabbed a orange. It was juicy and refreshing after the eventful day so far.

I made my way to sit down when I heard Ellie answer the door.
"Hey Joshi!" She acknowledged him with enthusiasm. That's so Ellie, always bright and bubbly.

Josh walked in to the kitchen, as a walked to great him he opened his arms to hug me, yes the awkwardness is real. I accepted his 'friendliness' and embraced him with a massive 'bear hug'.

We all walked to the small dinning room table. Ready to start planning the route for our trip.

"If we take this route," Josh points to the map.
"Then we will make it to New York with in 43 hours, that's with out delays and stops of course."
"Its a long way, 2915 miles is perhaps to much for us." I said uncertainly. As if we could make it to New York, this was a horrible idea.
" and of course we have to stop in....."
" Vegas!" We all shouted in chorus.

After a bit of messing around with google maps and singing so loudly you would wonder why no one came to tell us to shut up, there was a knock on the door. Know it was Sam, Josh shuffled over to open it willingly.
"Hey everyone." He exclaimed, surprisingly sober.
"Sit down babe, we've made a plan of attack for our trip" Ellie was excited as ever.
"Great," He sounded worried.

I've been thinking lately, I want to invite another friend on this road trip to comfort me if some thing goes wrong between Ellie and Sam. Which I completely doubt, not. Yes there is always Josh but, that's just an awkward situation.

So I need someone, a little voice in the back of my head was telling me no but the rest of me said yes, Nick was that person. Let me tell you about this mysterious Nick.

He was a new student a few years ago and ended up being in my algebra class, he is from the infamous land of kangaroos and koalas, Australia. He is tough  as nails and extremely loveable, no wonder a fell for him. 

Anyway we became close friends and spend heaps of time together. But Josh hates him and I can't find a reason why, Nick is the nicest person I've meet.

While I was deep in thought Josh, Ellie and Sam where trying to get my attention.
"Alex, hello?" Sam asked
"She's on another planet, just ignore her." Ellie told them in a hushed voice.

And so they carried on with the conversation about different religions and cultures, so I happily kept silently debating with my self. Just minutes later, I blurted out,
"Guys, can I invite Nick to come with us?"
"Please" I begged. What would they say?
