'The english band Muse would be celebrating their 21st anniversary today yet the band have not been seen together nor made any more hits in over a year, Happy birthday muse! Join us after the break for the continued countdown he-.' The TV screen turned black, I sat staring back at myself, the stubble on my chin scraping my hand as it moved across my jaw. I often questioned if I had made the correct decision to keep walking but that was the past now. It had been 14 months now, There wasn't any 'going back', there wouldn't be an 'amazing comeback'. This wasn't a book, this was life.

I'd been watching the fans on instagram, our page lost followers. Month one we were just short of half a million. Now... 221k. We were just a 'had been'. Long gone. It was depressing really. I kept contact with Tom yet we never actually met up on a regular basis, I'd be lucky to speak to him once a month, nevermind see him in person. It only took me a month to get over the loss of lifestyle, every time I looked at the bass sat in the attic, the self hate overwhelmed the pain and sadness. I had a family to support so I got a job in a office, worked my way up to CEO and was now pretty well off. Sure, the suit and tie lifestyle was nothing on 'rockstar' yet it payed the bills easily and with a little left over for the kids.

That friday, I left for the airport. I had a big meeting on the France coast; It was first class, As usual, so I couldn't complain yet it still wasn't the most enjoyable flight.

Waking up every morning to the sound of the sea isn't exactly a shame, It was nice. Rolling over every morning to wrap my arms around the woman who loved me was nothing to groan about either. I enjoyed life, it couldn't be better. Well... there was one thing that could make it better I guess...

Anyways, I still got to wake up and play drums for a good hour or so, have a cup of coffee and sit on the balcony, over looking the French coastline. By around seven in the morning, the tourists were roughly scattered over the sand yet by half seven, the entire tourist population of europe seemed the decend upon the sea front.

Saturday, one of my many days off, I decided to go shopping in the market that was set up a few blocks away, We needed some more breads and I was desperate to find a new wine as the one we'd been inhaling was down to the last 'dregs'. As I weaved through the densely packed cobble street, there was a group of suited bussiness men... A bit formal for shopping but hey ho!
