I just wanna be like you

Walk like, talk like, even think like you

The only one I could look to

You're teaching me to be just like you

The Key To Your Heart ✴ Chapter Seven

Time went by and Ryder and I went from strangers to acquaintances and slowly towards friends.

When I wasn't busy with school or work or homework or something else, we'd talk and it would take my mind off my stress. We slowly got to know each other and found common interests which would just lead to even more conversation.

"So what do you like to do in your free time?" Ryder asked me.

Worry.

"Um, Piano, graffiti-" I started.

"Graffiti?"

"Yeah...you know, like with the spray paint?"

"No, I know what graffiti is, I just... didn't think that was the kind of thing you did."

"Yeah, I mean, I do it all the time with Zay and Quinn." I knew that even though he'd only been going to Evergreen High for about a week, he was sure to have already heard about Zay and Quinn. Everyone knew who they were.

"You hang out with Zay?"

"...Is there a problem with that?"

"I don't know... Are you, like, with them?"

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, their group has been in trouble with the police who knows how many times. And I hear that Zay's even gone to juvenile prison before."

"And...?"

"They're vandals, Jayden. But they're more than vandals. They get themselves into things you don't want to get yourself into."

I didn't say anything for a moment but then I answered quietly. "Yeah? Well, it's what I've got right now."

I looked down "Besides...they tell me I'm good at the bad things...at least they're proud of me."
