"LOGAN! LOGAN WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU?!"

I screamed at the top of my lungs as I jolt awake. Logan is my little brother, for y'all who didn't know. But the only problem is, he's dead.

Like the rest of my family.

Mom, Dad, Ben, Abby, and little Logan. I'm the only one left. Alexandra Kaitlynne Abramo, the lone survivor. But, please call me Alex.

D'you want my story?

I was born on May 22, 1989, in the pouring rain. My parents didn't have enough money for the hospital, so I was homebirthed. I grew up in Houston, Texas, with my older brother and sister, Ben was 7 and Abby was 4, and then me, little Alex. Sometimes, we didn't have money, but we pushed through it. I never got everything that I wanted, like my friends did, but I learned to deal with it. My parents knew I was special, because I did normal baby things, but I also did things that older kids could do, like do complicated math problems at the age of two. Now, I'm talking like college level math, not two-sided equations and easy shit like that. I'm doing trigonometry and calculus, and it was easy! But I was only two, and math problems were my biggest care in the world. I didn't know that I was going to be the only one to survive the apocalypse that not even my strong older brother could fight off.

Now, it's October 27, 2000, and I am a crippled, orphaned 11 year old with brain cancer. No one wanted to adopt me at the orphanage, because they had seen that I sometimes had horrible visions at night. Nobody wanted the crippled 11 year old who had been traumatized because she had survived the apocalypse when she was seven. Me personally, I woulda loved to adopt an apocalypse survivor. But, I forgot. My opinions don't count. Because I have cancer. They say I have three weeks to live.

But I'm a fighter.

I will live longer than three weeks.

What a shitty expectation of me, of all people.

Alexandra Kaitlynne Abramo, apocalypse survivor.
