Grey

I traced Michael's sleeping features softly, the corners of my mouth involuntarily pulling into a small smile. Michael's arm was draped lazily against my midsection, I cuddled myself closer into him. Having Michael beside me was like everything that came before him was a preview of what it felt like to be loved, and love deeper than anything I've ever known.

No words in any language could ever express how much I loved this large nerd who laid beside me, with his ever changing hair color, and adorable child-like wonder in his eyes. I should have been terrified by how much I loved him, but I wasn't. When I was younger my aunt told me that we get one true love in our lives, if we're lucky, and deep down I knew I had found mine in Michael. Whatever happened in the future, I knew I'd never find someone I loved as deeply and truly as Michael.

I rested my palm gently on Michael's cheek, and just... looked at him. He was so... beautiful, not just physically, but his heart was beautiful. My eyes wandered to the tattoo on his forearm, the one that symbolized home. He had such a big heart, full of love. His eyes opened slowly and a sleepy smile settled on his lips, "Good morning, beautiful."

"I'm in love with you," I mumbled into his chest.

"What," he didn't quiet catch my declaration of love, seeing as it was muffled by his chest.

I lifted my head and looked him in the eyes, "I'm in love with you. So, so much."

His eyes lit up, a huge dorky grin forming on his face, "I'm in love with you. More than I ever thought I could love someone."

I cuddled into Michael, knowing that he was, and always will be, the love of my life. My mind wandered to a quote that Michael had shown me once, 'Most people see the world in black and white, but grey... I don't know what to do with grey.'

Michael was my grey. I didn't know exactly where all of this would lead, if it would last forever or burn out. But, boy, was I excited to find out.
