Chapter 03
Xander
Oh. My. God.
That was all I could think right now.
The year was 2013, no joke. 62 years before the moment I was living just a few minutes ago. Either I was in a very long and strange dream, or I had just traveled in time. I hoped it was the first one, but I was actually leaning towards the second.
It seemed impossible, though. It couldn't be real, time travel.
I looked down at myself, suddenly aware of how much of a lunatic I must look like no matter what time period I was in. There I was, in shorts not much nicer than boxers and a baggy shirt, soaking wet, in the middle of the street. Great.
It was also then that I realized how much I did need that girl Taylor's help. So I trudged back down the street to her house and saw her sitting back by her pool. I snuck through the yard and called to her.
"Hey!"
"Back so soon?" She smirked. I blushed. Now that I had time to look at her, I realized she was kind of hot.
"Yep," I responded.
"Ready to tell me what the heck is going on?"
"Well..." I hesitated. Should I tell her? I knew it would make me sound like a crazy lunatic. But then again, I'm sure she already thought I was a crazy lunatic with the way I was acting. So, I sat down next to her and told her the story of how I had touched the clock on the necklace for the first time and ended up falling into her pool. How I was a boy from the future.
As I told her the story, her face put on a look of pity.
Great.
Just great.
She thought I had mental problems. Literal mental problems.
"Where do you live?" She asked me like I was a little kid.
"I told you, I live in 2075. I wasn't born until 2059." I knew I was probably just confirming her suspicions by saying this, but hey, it was the truth. And the truth is the truth, no matter how crazy.
Wow. Now I do sound mental.
"Well, then, where is your house in the future? Can you show me where it will be located?"
She obviously wasn't buying my future story, and she thought she knew the right way to deal with someone mentally challenged. Except that, thankfully, I wasn't actually mentally challenged.
"I'm not mental, ok?" I snapped. "In 2075, my bedroom will be right above her your pool is now. No joke."
"But... That's not..." She mumbled.
"This is why I didn't want your help in the first place! All you're doing is telling me I'm a lunatic and talking to me like I'm a little kid. I've got my money card, er, credit card, so I'll just get a hotel somewhere!" I reached my hand to pull my card out if my pocket before realizing that my pockets weren't there, as I was in my Evening Clothes. "Aw, great. I left that at home too."
"If nothing else, I can buy you a hotel room and keep you fed," she offered. "If you haven't already noticed, my family might have a bit extra money." For the first time, I actually took a good look at the size of the house I was standing next to. Now that I hadn't just fallen out of the sky, I could truly appreciate its size and beauty. It was absolutely HUGE.
"Oh. Yeah, I suppose so," I said, a slight smile twitching at the corners of my mouth.
"C'mon," she motioned for me to follow, getting up. "I'll show you to the nearest hotel, it's not very far away."
