*Cassandra's POV*
"Hurry the hell up, we are going to be late Cassandra!" My best friend yells from downstairs, "I'm coming, I'm coming stop complaining," I yell back applying my chestnut lipstick. After I feel like I have applied enough I walk down stairs to an impatient Samantha and I greet her with the biggest hug I could fester at that moment.
"I'm so glad that I finally convinced you to come." She beams into my neck while still hugging me. "The things I do for you are incredible," I reply while rolling my eyes but never the less have a huge smile plastered on my face. I step back from her and take in her appearance, she looks absolutely amazing.
A black long sleeve dress that stops mid-thigh with lace along the arms and the neck, complemented by gold jewellery and a pair of black heels making her legs look even longer than usual. Her makeup looks flawless and she looks like she had it professionally done, if I wasn't her best friend I would really be jealous of her, all the guys fall for her, not me. Her blonde hair has been placed in a bun with a few curls loosely slipping out to give it that messy effect and her blue eyes stand out with the gold ombre eyeshadow she is wearing. I stand back to take the whole look in and her curves look extra curvy today with her dress sticking on her like second skin.
I complement her and kiss her cheek before taking one last look in the mirror, I left my brown wavy hair down and I wore simple makeup. Emphasising my hazel eyes with eyeliner, I applied only natural shades, my tanner complexion makes this easier for me to do. I am wearing a strapless khaki dress that reaches my knees and am planning on wearing my flats."You know that I really don't want to go to this party so the second I feel uncomfortable I'm coming straight home," I warn as we walk out the door. Slipping on my favourite pair of shoes I attempt to wave goodbye to my mum which is currently sitting on the stools at the kitchen bench but Samantha quickly grabs my arm and looks at me with a strange emotion in her eyes, I think its anger but no other facial features read that. She sat me down on the seats in front of my house and basically ripped off my shoes, waving a pair of black heels similar to hers in my face she smiles and happily says "Not today you won't wear those."
Seeing my previous gesture to say bye to my mum, she comes to the door to remind me of my curfew before I head off. "1am is the absolute latest, understood?" she calls out. I nod my head in acknowledgement and reply "Yes mum, I'll see you later." With a kiss goodbye I am finally on my way to this so called 'party of the year', oh how I wish I could just sit alone at home in my pyjamas watching Netflix but nooooo Samantha has other ideas in mind for tonight.
The entire trip to the party I whine and complain about how much I would rather chill at home with a cup of hot chocolate then pamper myself and attempt to impress others. It's really not my thing. The second we drive up to the house, I am absolutely gobsmacked, I have never been to a party this big. Its currently 8pm and since it is still winter it got dark pretty quickly today.
The night is very dark and the stars are bright but the light being emitted from this party could be enough to light up the entire city. Taking a peek out my window I begin to analyse the scene, people outside smoking, guys lounging all around the porch with god knows what in their red cups and girls wearing basically nothing.
As Samantha parks her car around the corner, I can see a few boys talk in a group, eavesdropping I can hear them assign a driver for later. "Elijah, since you don't drink anyways you are gonna drive us, alright?" I hear one of the guys say. Then one of them nods their head and begins walking towards the party, I assume he is Elijah. He seems as if he doesn't want to be hear as well, so I'm not the only one I think to myself. When I enter the house the only thing I can think is what am I doing here, like seriously is my best friend crazy. How could anyone find this fun. But since she is in a good mood I am not one to kill her vibe so I act as if I am enjoying myself and it is the most beautiful house I have been to. When in reality the hot sweaty bodies surrounding me already reek of alcohol and girls are acting drunk. Emphasise the whole acting part because I can see a few girls acting totally off their head even though the drinks arrived 10 minutes before I did. It is not attractive at all so why do girls do it. I roll my eyes at the sight of a few of those girls, they seriously disgust me.
I decide even if I did just arrive I'm already sick of this place, so I try to make my way to the backyard but I feel fingers wrap around my wrist. Scared to find out who is at the other end of that hand I pull my hand out of their grip to notice that it was only Samantha. "Sorry I thought it was some random person, what's up?" I say as calmly as possible. "Where are you going?" she asks me with curiosity in her eyes. Then I see pure humour, "Did you already find a guy?" she said while wriggling her eyebrows. "Ew no, I just want some fresh air, I'll see you later okay?" She nods in reply and I continue walking.
The backyard is calmer than I expected with less people and a cool breeze I reckon I could stay here all night, my eyes soon land on someone that seems to have the same plans. The boy from earlier, Elijah, is sitting in one of the huts scrolling on his phone. Acting like he isn't there I walk straight past his hut and sit in the one behind him. I pull out my phone and imitate his actions.
With the light from his phone illuminating his face I can see his well-defined jawline and golden brown hair from the back. Oh how I wish I could just see his face instead of being left to imagine what he looks like. I hate not knowing things. After 20 minutes of going through every social media app that I own I decide to go back inside to get a soda, quickly scanning the backyard I see Elijah in the exact same spot. I get up from my seat and attempt to get up out of the hut but instead trip over my own feet and fall face first onto the floor. "Ouch that hurt like a bitch" I mumble to myself not noticing I have an audience of 1. "Are you okay?" I hear someone ask from in front of me. I look up to see Elijah and nod my head quickly ignoring the blood leaking from my nose. I begin to walk off but he quickly steps in front of me and says "let me help you clean it up," Acting like it doesn't hurt I slowly say, "No thanks I'm fine." I start to feel light headed but brush it off like it is nothing until I trip again when my sight goes blurry.
He catches me before I fall and says "Looks like I'm going to help you after all, I'm Elijah." He says in the sweetest voice he could possibly produce. But little did I know that accepting his help would change my life forever.
