The sound of silence was louder than the most strangled cry a baby could make. As the nurse cradled the small unmoving baby, the infant's parents strained to see if the child was even alive at all. As the tiny girl blinked her eyes, it became apparent that she was alive and breathing, though the reassuring cry of a newborn was no where to be found. The nurse gazed cautiosly at this blank-faced curiosity, never meeting a baby like this one in her twenty years of experience. The baby hadn't uttered a single sound, neither of joy nor anger.
"How odd." she said before slowly walking out of the room while staring intently at the baby as if it could die any second.
