May could tell that her poor daughter hated her. After all, May had argued, yelled, and punished the girl since she was young. And, when her husband decided to turn the girl in, she felt it was her duty to stop him. All of the mean comments that she had made, arguments she started, and punishments she had given was her way of showing love. That was how her parents had been, and they had passed on their disgusting traits to her. She knew about her husband's silly little plan to run away, and she would be there to stop him. So, right before he went into the dictator' s office, she slid a note to Mr. Coloradas himself. While Demetrius babbled on about how his daughter was neither bad nor good, Hans slowly read the note. If you ask him if he is intoxicated, he will most certainly say no, so just keep quiet." ~ME May quietly looked on the scene with a sly grin and felt pleased with herself.
