"Wait!" I yell running after the car.
I'm not fast enough as the car flies around the corner.
"Ryland? Ross? We got to go!" I yell into my microphone.
Tires squeal behind me. For a second I think it's the bad guys and I'm going to get hit like Chevy did.
"Get in," Rocky yells.
"Jesus guys! You scared me..."
"Are you going to yell at us or are we going to save your girl?" Ross demands.
I look at Ross, "Let's go!"
I jump in the backseat and Rocky takes off before I finish shutting my door.
"I don't know where they went," I tell them.
"I do." Ryland turns in the front seat to look at me with a smile. "I'm tracking them on my phone right now."
"What? How?"
"I put a tracking device in Chevy's shoe. I figured if things went south..."
"Which they did!" Rocky interrupts.
"...and we needed to find her, the last place anyone would think of is her shoe."
"That's genius!" I admit. "So where are they?"
"Give me a second." Ryland studies his phone. "They're heading south, it looks like they are five blocks away."
"Should we follow them?" Rocky asks.
"Yeah, but if you stay on this street, we are parallel to them. He won't know we're following him," Ross points out after glancing over Ryland's shoulder.
"Can you hear what she's saying?" I ask.
"No, he must have found the wire right away," Ryland answers, never taking his eyes off the screen.
"Dammit!" I punch the seat in front of me.
"Hey!" Ryland complains.
"Sorry," I mumble.
Why did I let her go with him? I knew from the day we met Detective James that something wasn't right but I let her go anyways. She insisted that it would be okay, and I believed her and now she was in grave danger.
"They stopped," Ryland announces.
"Where?" Ross asks.
"Up ahead."
"Rocky pullover."
Rocky slows down and comes to a stop.
"Ry, call 911 tell them we have a hostage situation going on and the address of the building," I instruct.
"Then what?"
"Stay right here. I don't want you near any of this."
"You should have thought of that before you asked for help," Rocky mumbles.
"What are you going to do?" Ross asks.
"I'm going to see if I can get to her." I reach for the handle.
"No way, Riker. It's not safe," Ross argues.
"I'll be fine."
"I'm going with you," Ross declares.
"No."
"Yes, and nothing you say will make me stay here. It'll be good to have another pair of eyes."
"Ross..."
"The longer we sit here and argue the longer Chevy is alone with them," He points out.
"Let's go."
I didn't like putting my brother in this situation. No matter what I say, he isn't going to stay in the car. As much as I hate to admit it, Ross is right, I can use the extra eyes.
