Epilogue

“Fiona, everything looks magnificent. You should plan more parties,” said the senator’s wife.

“Thank you so much. Please check out the food. The caterer is amazing. You are going to love it,” said Fiona.

She surveyed the event. It had a cream color theme with gold accents. The design was elegant and simple. She had decided to hold her charity dinner in an art gallery. She had collaborated with local artists and the shelters to create a photo exhibit showcasing some of the women of the center as the models. There were also other paintings that would be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Fiona's new charity. The whole set-up was intriguing without being forceful. As people mingled with others, their eyes would be distracted by a painting or photo. They engaged with the subject of the charity individually without being overwhelmed. Despite the looks of enjoyment, she was still nervous. She watched as her two sisters mingled with others. They had brought their own guests to help out as well. She smiled at her brother as he walked in. Alice and Chris headed for her.

"It looks great," said Chris as he slid his arm around Alice's waist.

"Fiona, I checked with the caterer. He has everything he needed. The band will play after you give your speech about your plans. I just need to make sure that the silent auction by the sponsors is going well," said Alice as she clicked away on her tablet.

"Can you tell her to relax? I finally get leave in like 5 months and she is too busy on that stupid tablet, " complained Chris as he glared at the tablet. He was right, they had only starting dating for two weeks before he was called back.  Chris complained the whole time that he should not have wasted so much time after Alice's break-up with her other boyfriend. Still, everyone knew that he would not have done it differently even if he could. It had made Alice more confident when she learned to take care of herself for once.

"Alice, you should enjoy yourself. I am sure everything is going to be fine." At least , she hoped so. Chris took the tablet and handed it to Fiona. Then, he dragged Alice away. Fiona watched them go and was overwhelmed once again as she waited by herself.

“Breathe, Fi.”

She turned around and took the glass from her boyfriend Brick.

“Everything looks fine, right?” she said as she patted at her dress for the third time in five minutes.

“Everyone is enjoying themselves. Trust me. Not to mention, you will be raising a lot of money for the center.”

“Yeah. That’s the important part. I just have big plans I want to make this dinner an annual thing. I want my center to succeed.”

“It will. It has you backing it.” He gave her a kiss that was a little long before they broke apart.

“I gotta talk to your brother.”

Fiona nodded and smiled. Cole had been a little reluctant to get to know Brick. He felt Brick was a gold-digger since he didn’t really guard Fiona. He was coming around. When Brick got the idea to create his own security firm so that he could be his own boss, Cole backed him. Still, it was only after Cole heard that Brick had refused to take her money for guarding her. Brick was reluctant to take Cole's money as well, but Cole said it was his second chance to prove his guarding skills.  They were recruiting people at the moment. They were sort of getting along. Fiona hoped in time that they could be good friends.

“Excuse me, Ms. Delafield. I am from E! May I have an interview with you?”

“Sure.”

“It was almost a year ago that you declared that you were going on a hiatus. Now, you are spearheading a women’s charity. You are dating your former bodyguard. And you just finished filming a new movie. What do you have to say about all that?”

“It does seem a lot. I guess I would just say. Sometimes, you need to step back and reevaluate what you want. That’s what I did. I am just so happy that everything worked out”

“Well, that’s wonderful. And good luck.”

“Thank you.,” Fiona said with a smile.

&*&*&*&*

“Do you have it?” asked Cole.

“Yeah. I picked it up this morning,” said Brick as he opened up the box.

“Do you think she will like it?”

“My sister will love it. I am glad that you are making her an honest woman.”

“Seriously, Cole?  Honest woman? She still has to say yes.”

Cole threw his arm over Brick’s shoulders.

“Trust me. She will.”
