“Oh come on, you can’t leave yet!” She tried to convince him to stay, even though he had told her numerous times that he had to go help his dad; she wanted to stay with him longer, but she knew that he was going to have to go.
“You know I can’t!” He wanted to stay with her too but he had already blew off his dad every other day this week and he couldn’t do it a 6th time, she pouted and crossed her arms, they were sat by a river having a picnic, halfway through he had chucked her in it for a laugh and she had pulled him in after trying to help her out afterwards they had spent the time just laying there in the warm sun, letting it hit their bare skin as they lay in just their underwear, their clothes hung over a low branch to dry out.
They did this often, romantic moments but not having them lead anywhere, no-one ever understood why they didn’t become an item officially, whenever asked they both would say that to follow the norm and be in a relationship is too common, putting a label on what they had was never what they wanted to do, why should they follow others like sheep?
“Ebony, come on now.” He had a somewhat sharp tone in his voice.
“Fine, but we’re going out to the cinema Monday night, alright?”
“Sorted, shortie.” He flashed his pearly whites at her; his eyes stared directly into her own, Ebony was just lost, he knew how to win her over and get his way, in fact just looking at her made a shiver run down her spine. She raised an arm and let her fingers run through his dark brown locks, ruffling it up a moment later. He had done exactly the same to her, through hers.
That was their goodbye, not a word was spoken, nor any other physical contact just that.
He packed away a few things, slipping them into his backpack before standing and moving over to his bike; they glanced at each other once more and smiled before he biked off and disappeared among the tall grass. Ebony had locked her baby blues onto his figure until it was gone, then proceeded to pull a small purple notepad from her bag, taking out the pen that was connected to the binder, flicking open it to the next fresh page and wrote,
“July 14th 2009. It seems that the more time I spent with him, the more I ache the second he leaves, but that has never changed, not from day one. P.S, don’t forget to get payback on him for throwing you into the river, again.” Before closing the pad and returning it from where it came, he certainly was something different.
