Blake’s POV.
The smile he saw as soon as Ebony sat up in bed and laid her eyes on the puppy was still in his mind the next day, the day that they had plans to go to the cinema. He glanced down to his rolex, it was 10am, she’d be at work now he thought, so he picked up his latest iPhone, let his fingers type out a text, “I’ll meet you at the cinema, I won’t be late, promise shortie – Blake x” before he stood up, slipped it into his pocket and headed into his kitchen having the house to himself since they had gone off to work, his mum being a teacher and his dad being a well recommend surgeon.
Blake picked up his keys, twirled them about his fingers, taking no time to pop an apple into his mouth, grab his apron and then spin out the door, it automatically locked so he didn’t have to do it himself.
It wasn’t long before he was at work at the Bakery, he adored baking for some odd reason and he had taken on this job to pay for the puppy he had just bought Ebony though he continued on, it was part-time due to his college course in English Literature, which he wasn’t all that fussed about.
He had just got onto his break when he heard his phone ping, “meet right now for a while? I know you’re on your break and I’m on mine, at the spot we met. – Ebony x” He grinned, “I’ll be back in about half-hour Paul, eating out for my break, you know how to reach me!” He shouted through the door before darting out and into his car, driving up the nearby park where he spotted a very familiar blonde haired female who twirled on her heels and waved enthusiastically towards him.
They sat on the set of swings that had rusted over due to being there for many years, the red paint worn from the bars and the plastic seats had graffiti on, but this swing set was special too them.
It was silence until Ebony spoke softly, smiling sweetly too him, “it’ll be 13 years this weekend, you do remember, right?”
He pulled out his phone and brought up the calendar on there, bringing up the date she spoke of and showed her that it said ‘The day I met the most amazing girl around’.
“That’s a little cheesy, but I’m glad you didn’t forget, I hope you also didn’t forget that I beat you in that race all so long ago.” She said, nudging him playfully before actually swinging on the seat she was sat on.
“Nono, I think you’re misunderstood, I let you win.” He smirked, copying her action, letting the breeze from it flow through his brown hair before he jumped off, landing perfectly on his feet, turning to then catch the petite female who leapt from the swing, which failed because they both ended up on the floor, their faces centimetres apart. Ebony smiled at him, rolling off a moment after and just laying beside him.
“You realise we’ve speeeennnnntttt..” Blake lifted his arm to look at his watch, the other being used as a pillow by Ebony, his eyes widened when he saw it, “25 minutes laying here staring at the clouds, we’re both going to late if we don’t go now.”
“But I’m comfy!” She pouted, curling into his side but then sitting up not long after, knowing that he was right “okay okay, see you later, yeah?” Ebony ruffled up his hair and had the same done too her before she stood and walked to her car, “don’t be late!”
“I won’t!” He shouted back before standing up himself, watching her car drive away before he got into his and headed back to work.
