Chapter 13

A pang of fear in my chest jolts me up and I take a look at my left and right frantically. When I see no one is around me, I sigh in relief and lay down on the ground with a... blanket? A frown forms on my face and my heart lightens up, giving a spark of hope that maybe, Shawn has come to my aid and fought those creatures while I was sleeping. A grin immediately replaces the frown on my lips and when I try to stand up and take a look behind me, I fall back down again with a shocked expression on my face. In front of me is a freaking dog with light blue eyes. His head is in a tilt, looking at me with curious eyes and he's in a curl position. He hangs his head down and yawns and I narrow my eyes at the dog in suspicion. What the hell? When it seems that the dog is actually a nice dog and not going to attack me, I decide to scoop him up and the dog gives me a lick on the cheek and suddenly, I remember Browdie.

"Oh you're awake!" An unfamiliar voice greets me and I shriek out in response, startling the dog on my lap and the man chuckles. I whip my head to the man's direction and stare at him, studying his features. The man has a brown hair, tousled and sticking up everywhere, but I must say that it looks good on him, very much. It's like any women would drool over his hair. His eyes are a color of faded green, like a fresh leaf. And basing from his physique, he works out a lot since his muscles are showing proud and taut. I'm pretty sure this man is taller than me. He's wearing a white shirt and a faded jeans, with black rubber shoes. The man gives me a dazzling smile and I nearly squint my eyes because of the whiteness of his teeth; it's basically sparkling like a freaking diamond, and for a moment, I get tongue-tied. I want to greet him, to say hello, but the words are stuck at the back of my throat. This man is basically a God. "I found you unconscious with the creatures surrounding you. So, I helped you. I was surprised that there's another human wandering in this world. I thought I was the only one, so I decided to help you."

Good Lord, even his voice is a definition of perfection. It's deep and very manly and it has a calming effect on me that makes me want to listen to his voice more and more. What's happening with me? First of all, I'm attracted to girls. I should be. Second, I'm not gay. But this man makes me question my sexuality.

"I know I'm sexy, no need to drool." He says with a smug smirk and this time, I frown, roll my eyes at him, and scoff. This man, I assume, is so full of himself. He laughs and walks over me, takes a seat and pouts at me. "Forgive me, please." He gives me those stupid puppy dog eyes and I can feel it's working on me. Is it just me or does he get cuter and cuter? I give him the coldest glare I can do but he sticks his lips out more, and I sigh in defeat as I give him a nod and he cheers. "By the way, my name is Brentley. You can call me Brent though. May I know yours?"

Hesitantly, I say my name. "Dylan." Without asking permission, he grabs my hand and shakes it furiously and he smiles at me widely. His hand is warm and soft and gentle.

"You know, honestly, I think we're the same." Brentley says out of the blue and I look at him in confusion. "When I saw you, I had this feeling that we're the same, you know? Like, like, somehow we're related?"

"No, no, we're not brothers." I say, shaking my head and Brentley bursts out laughing.

"No, not that!" He says as he tries to conceal a laugh. "What I meant, uh, like, you know, we're... the same? I don't know how to express it. I just know we're the same. Oh by the way, you have nice eyes. Sadly, those eyes want a different color of eyes rather than mine. You'd prefer the color of the sky rather than a leaf. Don't ask how I know." He gives me a smirk, stands up and walks away. "By the way, there are foods here. Lots of them. You must be hungry. Come eat with me!" Glad to eat with someone, I happily stand up and follow him. The dog follows us and Brentley takes a seat on the ground and my eyes widen in surprise; there are lots of fruits and foods like fried chicken and other stuffs, all laid on the white blanket. Brentley smirks at my amused expression and motions for me to take a seat. I do.

"So, what's this dog's name?" I ask him as I get a fried thigh-part chicken and look at it. I'm not sure how Brentley fried this, but the skin looks overcooked, but the inside is fresh and well cooked as I tear a piece of skin.

Brentley looks at his pet dog and smiles. "His name is Coffee."

"You named your dog 'Coffee'?" I ask him incredulously. Coffee's ears perk up as he hears his name being called out and he gets on my lap and stares at me with beautiful eyes and his tongue is sticking out. Brentley nods furiously with a happy grin.

"I love coffees. That's why I named him Coffee," he says matter-of-factly and takes a bite on the fried chicken and moans out in delight. I bite some and offer it to Coffee and he happily grabs the chicken and walks away. Brentley laughs at this and I scowl at him. "My full name is Dylan Maxon Allen."

"Mine is Brentley Fritz Matthews." He replies as he takes another bite of his chicken. Coffee is busy munching the bone of the chicken and just like his owner, he looks cute also. I chuckle, then my thoughts drift to Shawn. How is he anyway? Is he doing fine and good? Knowing him, he'd probably be frowning right now and cursing. "You're really attracted." Brentley says as he shakes his head, a smile playing on his lips.

"Are you some sort of pyscho?" I ask him, wide eyes. "First of all, I'm not attracted. Second, to whom? I haven't met any girl that have captured my attention yet."

"First of all, I can feel if someone is attracted. Second, I'm not kidding," Brentley states as he takes an apple and my mind drifts to the apple incident. The image is vivid and fresh in my mind. It makes me blush, thinking that Shawn's naked body was pressed against my back, trying to help me spew out the apple. "And third, look at your face. You're blushing. You're thinking of the light blue eyes, light brown haired guy who has a sexy body that you admire."

"What the hell?"

"Mind manipulation. Thank you very much!" He says in a cheery voice and starts devouring the fruits. My eyes widen. I touch his shoulder and Brentley looks at me. "I told you we're the same."

"You... you always know what I'm thinking," I say in shock as my mind processes what's happening. Brentley just gives him a shrug and begins to eat again, then wipes his mouth with his palm. "Don't you? But... not exactly what I'm thinking... it's more of a... uh, um, what... ah?"

"With one look in anyone's pair of eyes," Brentley begins as he turns his body towards my direction and starts explaining. "I already know what features they like from a person. I can sense if the person is attracted or not. When I look into your eyes, I can see the smile he gave you once. I can see the light blue eyes that are very peaceful. My power is mind manipulation. I can move things just with my mind, manipulate a people, and believe me or not, I can be the most attractive man you will ever see in your life. We can do it. And I know this has been bugging you ever since. What intrigues me is, how? I never saw you in my place. I never saw you in any part of the city where I grew up. I was the Chosen One of the Taurus clan. Unless, there are any Taurus cities out there that we don't know; that I don't know."

"Wow," I say in awe, still wide eyes.

"And another thing, when I found you laying there, I just manipulated those creatures' mind just so we could escape. I dragged you, by the way. Hope you don't mind."

"I don't."

"Good. Now, let's continue to eat. I feel like you have more questions, and I'll try to answer them later. Right now, let's eat in peace."

This is getting real. Do you like Dylan's new friend, Brentley? Believe me, Brentley Fritz Matthews is sexy as hell. Wohoooo.
