CHAPTER 5
"WHAT?!" Penny cried. Her eyes were huge, threatening to pop right out of their sockets.
"Yeah! It was her! The Girl In The Red hood! She killed him! She killed Alec!" Celia's face was becoming hot with rage.
"Celia, calm down. It was a dream. Your brain created it all. That stuff never really happened." Penny said reassuringly, but you could hear it in her voice that even she didn't believe herself.
"No! I will not CALM DOWN!" Celia jumped up off the bed. "I need to go to the police. I need to tell then what a monster she is!" She scrambled to put on her jacket and boots.
"You have no proof! No one will believe you!" Penny cried, grabbing hold of Celia's arm. Tears began to snake down Penny's cheeks. "I just don't want to believe he's gone." She sobbed. Celia stood up and wrapped her arms around Penny. "You're right." Celia said, choking back tears. Alec couldn't really be gone. It was just her imagination. But then where was he?
The two girls held each other as they sobbed, for what seemed like hours. They only broke away when they heard the sirens. Police cars blared down the road, flashing blue and red into Penny's room. An ambulance soon followed.
"What- what are those for?" Penny stammered. The girls exchanged a glance, and then bolted out of the house. They ran after the flashing lights, and came to where the police cars were parked. A crowd had already began to gather, eager to see what the commotion was. Celia and Penny pushed up to the front. Celia peered around. Then she spotted her. The Girl In The Red Hood was standing, watching from a far. Celia gasped. Every time the lights flashed on The Girl, Celia swore she could see a smirk from beneath her hood.
"Look!" Celia jabbed Penny's arm.
"What?" Penny asked, rubbing the spot where Celia poked her. Celia pointed in the direction of where she saw The Girl. But she was gone.
"No, but, she was there! The Girl In The Red Hood! Right there!" Celia cried. Penny opened her mouth to respond, but was interrupted by the shouts of the police. "We've got him! We've got him!" They were yelling. A little flicker of hope lit up in Celia and Penny's hearts. The were both thinking the same thing. Could 'him' be Alec? Has he come back?
"Move out of the way!" The police yelled. They cleared the way for the paramedics, who had someone on a stretcher. Was that Alec?
"It's Alec!" Celia yelled. Her and Penny charged forward, getting as close as the could to their friend. Then they saw the wounds. Huge slash marks, cutting deep across Alec's chest, making it possible to see down to his bones. Penny made a choking sound, then ran over to the grass and puked. Celia stayed glued to her spot, her eyes on Alec's closed ones. Could anyone survive those gashes? Then Celia's worst suspicions were confirmed. The paramedics lifted up a white sheet and covered Alec's body with it. Celia's head spun. "No." She choked. This couldn't be happening. "No!" She tried to run after the stretcher, but her knees buckled, and she fell onto the cold grass. She looked over to Penny, who was sobbing into the ground a few yards away. Out of the corner of her eye, Celia swore she again saw The Girl In The Red Hood. Celia's sadness soon turned to hot rage. She knew that girl had something to do with Alec's death. She just knew it. And right there, right then, Celia decided that The Girl In The Red Hood would pay.
