I'm going to try a different point if view, I hope you like it.
"My help? Who are you?" Alex asked the boy. The boy had blood smeared across the left side of his face, he had bruises up and down his arms, he had a black eye, and his lip was split. Alex was sure there were more bruises underneath his clothes. His shirt had blood on it, but Alex couldn't tell where the blood was coming from.
"Please," the boy glanced behind him, as if he thought he was being chased. "Let me in and I'll explain." Alex stared at the boy in disbelief. Who is this boy? Why is he here? What happened to him? Who did this to him? The boys voice pulled Alex out of his thoughts. "Please," he said, glancing behind himself again.
"Alright.. Alright come on in." Alex stepped back so the boy could come in. Alex closed the door behind him. "What's your name?" Alex asked the boy.
"Levi." The boy spoke quietly.
Alex was silent in shock for a moment. It can't be him. It's a coincidence. "Levi. Alright Levi, why don't we get you cleaned up. Then we can talk."
We walked into the kitchen, Joey and Mia weren't in the kitchen anymore, Alex grabbed a washcloth and wet it at the sink while Levi scooted onto the counter. Alex turned around and dabbed at Levi's split lip, and Levi winced.
"Sorry." Alex mumbled, and wiped as gently as he could at the side of Levi's face. Once all the blood was gone Alex could see that Levi had a cut starting from his eyebrow and traveling down his face to about his cheekbone. Alex wiped at it gently, "This might need stitches." Alex mumbled, the way he always did when he was concentrating.
Alex turned to grab an ice pack out of the freezer for the bruises on Levi's face. He handed it to Levi, Levi nodded in thanks, taking it and pressing it to his face.
"Take off your shirt." Alex told Levi. Levi did as he was told, picking up the ice pack he had put down after his shirt was off.
There was a deep cut on Levi's side, but it looked like the bleeding stopped. Alex grabbed a new rag, wet it, and started wiping the blood off Levi's body. Levi looked skinny and underfed.
"What happened to you?" Alex asked, looking at Levi questioningly.
"That-" Levi winced as Alex attempted to clean the blood away from the cut, "I- I don't want to talk about that right now." Levi spoke quietly.
Alex could tell Levi was upset, so he nodded, dropping the subject for now. After the Levi's wound was cleaned up it didn't look as bad as it had initially. Alex bandaged it up and hoped Levi didn't need stitches.
"Can I use your shower?" Levi asked, looking at his bloody shirt. "And.. Maybe borrow some clothes?" He added.
"Sure." Alex told him. On the way upstairs to the shower they ran into Joey. Joey was surprised to see a bruised, shirtless, teenager he'd never seen before.
"Wha-? Who are you?" Joey asked, looking from Levi, to Alex, and back to Levi.
"I'll explain in a minute." Alex said, gently pushing Levi past Joey.
"I.. Okay." Joey said, shocked.
Alex showed Levi to the bathroom, and handed Levi a towel. Levi nodded in thanks and Alex turned and walked out to find Levi some of his clothes.
Joey was waiting for Alex in their bedroom when Alex walked in.
When he saw Alex he stood up off the bed. "Who is he?" Joey questioned Alex.
"He says his name is Levi." Alex told him.
"What happened to him?"
"He didn't say."
When Alex finished telling Joey about the boy Joey sat in silence for a moment. When his finally spoke he said, "Are we going to let him stay here?"
"I think we should.. At least for a little while. He's hurt, and he needs somebody to take care of him." Alex spoke, hoping Joey understood.
"What if he's dangerous? What if whoever did that to him is dangerous? What about Mia, what if she gets hurt? I don't think we should get wrapped up in this." Joey sounded anxious as he spoke.
Alex tried to think of something to say to reassure Joey. "He's a child Joey.. He needs somebody to protect him. Please, at least let him stay the night. It's already getting dark, we can figure out the rest tomorrow."
"Fine." Was all Joey said before Levi walked in the room, with nothing more on than a towel around his waist.
"Sorry to bother you guys, but I could really use those clothes right about now." His cheeks were tinged pink, and he looked kind of embarrassed to be standing in front of them with nothing but a towel on.
Now that Levi was clean Alex noticed the thin scars that laced Levi's back and arms. Alex also noticed the boys bright blue eyes, and hair.
Joey just snorted at what Levi had said, and Alex stood up, "Sure, let me get them." Alex walked over to the closet, and came out with a pair of sweatpants, one of his old Mcr band tees, and a zip up hoodie. He handed them to Levi and Levi mumbled what sounded like "Thanks." Took the clothes, and walked out of the bedroom.
Alex sat down next to Joey on the bed and looked up at his face. He looked upset. "Thank you." Alex whispered. "I know I just met him, but I want to keep him safe."
Joey's expression softened, "I know sweetie." He said gently as he pulled Alex into a hug. "We can talk more about this tomorrow. Right now I'm starving. What's for dinner?" Joey smiled at Alex, trying to lighten the mood.
Alex smiled, "I was thinking lasagna."
Alex walked downstairs to find Levi sitting on he couch. "I'm going to make dinner. You hungry?" Alex asked Levi.
"Starving." Levi answered Alex.
"It'll be ready soon." Alex promised.
Alex had prepared the lasagna earlier that day, he pulled the tray out of the fridge, set the oven to 350°, and set the tray of lasagna inside. Alex set the timer and walked into the living room.
"I guess I'll be sleeping on the couch tonight?" Levi asked quietly. Am I even going to stay the night? Levi thought, Maybe he's just going to kick me out. Maybe that other guy will, he seemed like a jerk.
"No Levi." Levi heard Alex say. Levi's heart sank, it was freezing outside, if he spent another night out there he was going to freeze to death. "You can sleep in the guest bedroom." Levi looked at Alex in surprise.
"O-Oh." Levi stuttered, still surprised. "Thank you." Levi said to Alex, he really appreciated how kind he was being to him. He didn't even know Levi.
"Of course Levi." Alex spoke to Levi with gentleness. Alex realized he'd never told Levi his name. "My name is Alex." He told Levi.
That's him. I've been searching for him for years. Levi's heart started to beat faster but all he did was nod.
"And that man you met earlier, his name is Joey. He's nicer than he seems at first." Alex told Levi. "And we have a daughter, her name is Mia." Levi nodded to show he was listening.
"Are you and Joey.. Together?" Levi asked a little awkwardly.
"Yes, we're married," Alex told him, "Is that a problem?"
"No, no, of course not." Levi spoke quickly, afraid he'd made Alex angry.
Alex heard the timer go off for the oven. Levi followed Alex to the kitchen. "Joey! Mia! Dinner!" Alex called after he'd taken the lasagna out of the oven and set the table.
Levi did his best to be polite during dinner, but Joey starred at him like he was something very unwelcome.
"So Levi," Joey broke the silence, "Why us?"
