Warriors: Son Of a Legend

Part 1: Memories

Ok, guys, thank god there was a couple suggestions for kit names in ma story. I thought they were great! The names were suggested by SecrecyBusiness. Also, I don't want to hold this story up any longer. Enjoy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Squirrelstar padded out of her den, her deputy, and step brother, Flameclaw was waiting for her outside. She nodded to him and he began sorting out the patrols. After Bramblestar died, protecting his Clan from a fox, Squirrelflight became the new leader and Flameclaw, the Legendary Firestar's only son, became deputy. He was a lot like his father, and has a little bit of his mother in him. He missed them both dearly, but he knows that they are both watching over he and his sisters, Nightheart and Flowerpetal. Flowerpetal padded out of the snow covered medicine cat's den, an old Jayfeather at her heels.

"The Clan need Thym, Flowerpetal, will you go fetch some?" Flowerpetal nodded and sprinted out of camp. Since Jayfeather is too old to do any major medicine cat duties, Flowerpelt has practically taken control. He was still her mentor, but she's learning to take care of the clan herself. 

"Flameclaw?" Flameclaw pricked his ears at the sound of Lionblaze's voice. The golden warrior dipped his head at the clan deputy.

"Are there any patrols you want me to join? I want to know since I want to take Silverpaw out for a training session." Flameclaw thought about the patrols he arranged earlier.

"No, you're free to train Silverpaw all afternoon if you like, but don't stay out too late, we don't want to risk anymore warriors getting a chill." He meowed. Lionblaze nodded and padded toward the apprentices' den where Silverpaw was waiting. He jumped to his paws and Lionblaze lead him to the camp entrance. Dovewing came up beside him.

"I'm glad you choose my old mentor to train my son, and that you volunteered to mentor my daughter." She commented. Flameclaw purred at her voice. Then he remembered something.

"Oh, hey, how is my sister doing with her kits?" Dovewing sighed and looked at him.

"Featherkit has a small cold, but Flarekit is ok though." She mewed. Flameclaw nodded and padded to the nursery. He poked his head inside and saw Nightheart, his sister, purring as her newborn kits were suckling at her belly. 

"Hey, Flameclaw." She greeted, dipping her head. Flameclaw dipped his head back.

"I just wanted to see if you were ok." He meowed. Nightheart gave him a look of irritation.

"Great, first, I got Molewhisker checking on me every five seconds, now my brother is doing it." She murmured to herself. Flameclaw knew she was right when he heard Molewhisker, Nightheart's mate, padding toward the nursery. He meowed goodbye and backed out. He padded across the clearing and Hollypaw was waiting for him at the camp entrance.

"What are we going to do today?" Flameclaw smiled at her. "Today is going to be different, we're just going on a hunting trip and when we get back, we'll have you and Silverpaw's warrior ceremony." Hollypaw looked at him in shock.

"Really?" Flameclaw nodded. Hollypaw jumped with excitement. "I can't believe it!" They exited through the camp entrance and started hunting. Flameclaw remembered when he trained with Bramblestar and the fun they had while training, also when Firestar taught him and Nightheart a few small fighting techniques when they were kits. He missed them.

Flameclaw and Hollypaw came through the camp and entrance and dropped their fresh kill in the pile. The moon was rising and Hollypaw went to talk to her brother, Silverpaw, and the others apprentices about the warrior ceremony. Flameclaw looked around for Lionblaze, he was talking to Squirrelstar, Flameclaw approached them and nodded a greeting to his leader. Squirrelstar nodded and leaped on High Ledge. She called a meeting, drawing every cat's attention. Hollypaw and Silverpaw looked up excitedly and sat at the base of High Ledge.

As Squirrelstar spoke the words to Starclan to welcome the two apprentices as warriors, Flameclaw noticed the spirit of his father Firestar looking at them. He smiled. Hollypaw and Silverpaw had received their warrior names. Hollypaw is Hollylight and Silverpaw is Silverclaw, Flameclaw was very proud of them both.
