Chapter 1- Laura's P.O.V

I know, I said I would stay away but I just couldn't. I'm addicted to it! If there's anyone to blame its the damn makers of crispy creme doughnuts!

Oh well, no point on trying to go on a diet anyway, I'm not unhappy with my weight. Sure people call my size 16 body overweight but honestly? I find it healthier then the size 10 sticks people call 'normal'. Speaking of sticks...

"Hey isn't that Laura Dail?" The queen bee asked her followers loudly, obviously wanting to get my attention. I rolled my eyes and continued eating my doughnut, rather happily.

" You think she would know by now she needs to go on a diet, she can barely even fit on the seat at school." She gaffed. I found it rather amusing.

"No wonder she doesn't have a boyfriend." One of the other girls muttered.

"I heard that she got knocked up by Adam Tony, that's why she's so fat." Another of the girls said. Alright I can handle them being shallow about my weight but saying I had sex with the biggest jerk the world has ever seen was a bit much. I was about to get up and tell them where to stick there rumors when someone else interrupted for me.

"Well obviously you girls are as idiotic as you sound because it's obvious she isn't pregnant. When you see a pregnant woman take note." The man said simply. He was tall with black curly hair and bright blue eyes. He was wearing a red jacket and black jeans and boots, that seemed to suit him quite well. He looked up and smiled at me, the most gorgeous smile I have ever seen in my life. Literally it was like the sun has suddenly came out from behind the clouds.

"Ergh, why don't you too hook up with each other, your both fat and ugly." She muttered.

"Just because you were once bigger then a size 8 and ridiculed doesn't mean you have to do the same to others Casey." The man said just before she walked through the door. She stopped suddenly and turned around to face him, looking shocked and well, slightly afraid. But she scoffed non the less and turned away out the door, her posse following her.

"Hi." I greeted him from across the restaurant. He got up and moved to my table, smiling his beautiful smile.

"Good afternoon, I'm Nick." He introduced himself, holding his hand out for me to shake.

"I'm Laura." I introduced myself. He was looking at me intently, his eyes like they were seeing into my soul.

"Why didn't you say anything to them about how they were talking about you, you obviously heard them." He said.

"What's the point? Nothing I say is going to make them less shallow, and I don't care what they think of me anyway." I shrugged, it was true, there just a bunch of mean, slutty bimbos who think everyone else has problems when there the ones who have them.

"That's true enough. It looks like everyones getting into the Christmas spirit." He said, gesturing to the Crispy Creme store that had just put up Christmas decorations.

"Seems like it. My family put our decorations up yesterday." I commented, smiling like an idiot. Christmas was my favorite day, I loved the festive spirit and the time you get to spend with your family and of course the giving and getting of presents! I actually got a job this year so I was looking forward to buying christmas presents for the first time ever. I have five little brothers and sisters and heaps of auntys, uncles, cousins so I had a lot of people to buy for.

"Do you like Christmas?" He asked me curiously.

"No... I love Christmas! It's amazing." I practically gushed. He smiled even wider.

"Great so do I!" He exclaimed happily.

"My favorite bit is when I see people open there presents and there face lights up." I said dreamily. I get a feeling of excitement for them and happiness because I know they are a little more happier. Nick looked at me more intently then he did before, it was kind of starting to unnerve me but I held his gaze, refusing to look away. After a few seconds of pointlessly staring at each other he laughed.

"Not many people can look at me in the eyes like that." He commented.

"Well when you look at someone straight in the eyes like that it kind of looks like your looking right through them, I have nothing to hide." I said thoughtfully. He looked shocked at that.

"Your not like others are you?" He asked me gently. Gee thanks for noticing.

"No I suppose I'm not." I said with a grin. "Oh man I need to go, I haven't even made a dent in my Christmas shopping yet." I explained. For a second I thought I saw panic in his eyes, but it quickly passed, making me re think it.

"Let me help." He said. Ok, I was sorta freaked out by now, I mean I don't know this guy and he could be anyone, a rapist, murderer you name it. But something about the friendly spark in his eye, the beautiful smile on his unshaven face made my heart melt, and I couldn't help but to not want to leave his side.

"I doubt you would be any help.."

I trailed off, still looking for a reason why he shouldn't come. He smiled, looking amused.

"Try me, tell me the age of a person you will be shopping for, there status in your family and one thing they love." He smirked. He seriously thought it was that easy?

"My Grandmother, she loves chocolate." I blurted. She will be the hardest to by for as I'm not sure what genre of books or movies she likes, all I know is that she likes chocolate. But that's not nearly enough for a christmas present. Nick looked thoughtful for a moment, then shot up as if he had a great idea.

"They sell handbags filled with chocolate in K Mart, that along with a chocolate tray would be good." He said. Ok that was too easy...

"My sisters 7 and has absaloutely everything she could want, what do you suggest?" I asked him.
