I wish I had wings

I once had these birds who were
Better to me than words
They helped me vent
Even when I felt bent
Even though they could not speak
It was like I could understand the chirping
From their beaks
I envied them because they had wings
Which meant they could fly away
From such horrible things
They could never be crushed
Or have to worry on who to trust
All they had to do was flap their wings
Without having to worry about
What the world might bring.
