"Courtney!" Daniel screamed, running towards the figure laying on the ground with blood coming from a cut on her forehead.

"What happened?" I exclaimed, looking around.

Some girl explained that she had passed out and on the way down, hit her head on the sink.

"Has anyone called 911?" Daniel yelled.

"Yeah, they're on their way." someone else called out.

Daniel picked her up and carried her out of the bathroom and to the front of the club. I dazedly followed behind Daniel.

All this was to familiar to me. My mom had multiple nights where she'd fall out. But she'd never had to be taken to the hospital for it. I shook my head to get rid of the thoughts. The ambulance pulled up within the next minute and put Courtney inside.

An EMT told us that there wasn't enough room in the ambulance so Daniel followed behind them. He frantically pulled into the parking lot and found a spot right outside the entrance. We walked in as they were pushing Courtney down the end of the hallway. Daniel ran over to the check in desk while I took a seat and put my head in my hands.

"Can you tell me where they're taking that girl?" he asked.

"No, sir. Are you immediate family?" the nurse asked.

"Yes. I'm her brother."

"Okay. If you can fill these forms out for me, I can let you know where they're taking her as soon as I find out." she said, handing him a clipboard.

Daniel sighed and took the clipboard.

He filled out the papers, sat the clipboard in his lap, and pulled out his phone. I looked at him quizzically.

"Mom. Courtney's in the hospital. Yeah. Okay." he said and then hung up.

He stood up and walked over to the desk.

"You don't have to call the emergency contacts. I've already done it." he said, placing the clipboard on the desk.

The lady nodded and returned to the computer.

"Sir." she called, waving him over.

Daniel slowly walked back over to the desk and placed his elbows onto the counter. He nodded, thanked the woman, and walked back over to the area we were sitting.

"When they get done with the tests, she'll be in room B143. They said about 20 minutes."

Daniel parents rushed into the emergency, running to him and hugging him.

"How is she?", his mother pleaded.

Daniel sat back down in his chair and sighed.

"We don't know yet, but they're running tests. It will be another 20 minutes until we can see her, room B143."

"What do you mean they don't know?!". his mother exclaimed. Bert's failed attempt of consoling his wife landed her in front of the nurse's desk, asking multiple questions and crying. Bert walked over to his wife and gently pulled her away, walking her to a seat, and sitting her in his lap. Fiona's cries were muffled by his shoulder.

The 20 minute dragged by in silence. The double doors leading to the rest of the hospital swung open.

"Family of Courtney Smith." a nurse in scrubs read off of a clipboard.

They all somberly stood up and followed the nurse. They rounded a corner and there in room B143, was a small, feeble girl, stretched out on a stark hospital bed, with bandages around her head, and tubes sticking out of her arm.

Fiona fainted.
