The light rain drizzled onto my surroundings. It was very early, five am. No one was around, that's how I liked it.
My hood covered my black hair, protecting it from the rain. I raised my disposal tea mug to take a drink, but the bench shifted as a new weight was set upon it. I tensed.
No one should be out this early.
My mug lowered as I decided against taking the drink. We both sat in silence. I took a small glance. Tyler Joseph. I went to school with him, until last year when we both graduated. He was one of the only people who would speak to me, the only one.
"Rain?" Oh. I zoned out on his face. How great. "Tyler, sorry, I zoned out a bit." He shook his head. "Its alright. I haven't seen you since graduation." I nodded. "Where are you staying?" He asked, facing towards me. I gestured behind him. "The blue house, down the street." "Oh, rad. I live down that road, small white house." He pointed down the opposite road. "Are you living alone?" He questioned. I nodded lowering my head slowly. I wouldn't be, if my mother was still alive. A phone slid from his end to mine. I looked up and furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. "Your number, can I have it?" "Oh, yeah. I'm sorry. Of course." I stumbled over my words. I quickly typed in my name and number, double checking for any mistakes. I slid it back. "I'm sorry, Tyler. I have to go back to my house. Feel free to text me, though." I stood and quickly walked off, throwing away the half empty mug on my way past the bin.I quickly walked to my house, making it in record time. I unlocked and open the door, I was welcomed with the sent of vanilla and the light from the rising sun. My house was fairly small. The front door walked into the living room, then lead in to the kitchen/dining room. My bedroom was a loft, a ladder connected it to the living room. White fairy lights set the mood up there while pillows surrounded the walls. I climbed up and turned on the TV from downstairs. My phone buzzed, signaling a message. It must be Tyler. No one else has my number. I looked down, reading the message
Hi, its Tyler. I wanted to know if you'd like to hang out tomorrow?
Yep. It was Tyler.
Of course, we can meet at the park and go somewhere, if you'd like.
Sounds great. I'll meet you at 10?
Yeah.
I was actually going to have human connection. This was new.
√•Next Day•√
I woke at 4:40 am. Same time everyday.
I couldn't sleep in no matter how hard I tried.
Tyler.I sat up in my loft. Thankfully the ceilings were high enough so I could do so. I climbed down the ladder and walked into the kitchen. I put a cup of water in the microwave for my tea and walked to the bathroom. I threw my hair up into a bun. Winged eyeliner complemented my brown eyes.
I quickly got dressed in my black high waisted jeans and white top tucked in. A black leather jacket for warmth. I made my tea and walked to the park, taking my normal seat on the bench.
Six am.
I started thinking about meeting Tyler. The last time I've spent time with an actual human being was at my mother's funeral.
I was scared. He'd think I've changed so much. I have, I'm sure he has changed too.
Seven am.
The elderly couple that came each day at seven walked into the park, holding a load of bread for the ducks to feed on. They signaled my time to leave. I stood and walked past them, back home.9:50. I climbed down the ladder and into the bathroom. I touched up my eyeliner and did my hair. Shutting the door, I walked to the park quickly. The bench was empty when I arrived, five minutes early. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.
10:20.
I stood from the bench. He isn't coming.
Just go home. Halfway to my house I heard loud footsteps behind me. "Rain!" I stopped.
Tyler
He put his hands on his knees. "I am so, so sorry. I slept in and didn't realise the time." He was out of breath. "Its okay, are you alright?" I walked closer to him. He stood up straight and nodded. "I'm alright, I'm sorry." "It's okay, Tyler." "Where would you like to go?" "Do you want to catch a movie?" I didn't know what I wanted to do.
"Yeah, your place?" I should've cleaned.
"Yeah. Its just up ahead." We continued past the next three houses and walked onto my porch. I opened the door and led Tyler in. "I apologize for the mess." I looked down as I turned on the TV. "No, don't be. You should see my place." He laughed. "Can I use your bathroom?" I nodded, giving him directions to the room. He thanked me and went on the small journey. I climbed up into the loft and collected the pillows and blankets I hoarded up there. I tossed them down the ladder, I followed in suit. Tyler walked back in. "Are we making a fort?" "Do you want to?" "Hell yes!" I smiled. I walked into the kitchen and brought in two chairs from my small table. "Do you want to order a pizza?" I asked as I set the chairs in position. "Yeah. I'll call. I'll get a soda too, we can split the money." I nodded as I tied blankets to the chairs and draped them over the couches. Pillows lined the inside, just like my bed. I looked for movies to order while Tyler ordered the pizza. "Rain, whats your address?" I popped my head out of the fort and told him, he repeated it into the phone. "What movie?" I questioned as he climbed into the fort. "I wanted to see Harry Potter again, Is that alright?" I nodded and looked for the first one. He settled next to me, facing the flat screen as I chose it. "I've missed you, Rain." My eyes widened. "I miss you too." He smiled softly at me, then turned his attention back to the TV.
Thirty minutes into the movie my doorbell rang. "Pizza, I'll grab it." "Here's half of the money." Tyler handed me his share while I grabbed the rest from my pocket. I climbed out of the blanket fort and walked across the living room to open the door. I handed the money to the Dominions pizza deliver, taking the pizza and soda. "Thank you." I shut and locked the door. I ducked into the fort and set the pizza in-between us. Tyler opened the box and took the hot, messy slice of calories. I stared at the pizza.
You've been fasting for a full day. Imagine how good you'll look if you don't eat it.
"Rain? Aren't you going to eat?" Tyler looked at me. I nodded, picking up the smallest slice I could see. My stomach growled loudly. I looked up to see if Tyler noticed and to apologize, but he didn't. I slowly finished the slice. "Tyler?" I turned towards him, facing him. He looked at me. "How've you been? Since graduation?" I questioned. He replied. "I've been okay, how have you been?" "I'm still alive." I smiled softly towards him. "That's good. I'm really glad I saw you." I agreed with him.We ended up watching most of the Harry Potter movies, Tyler ended up leaving around five am.
