Ryan:
"Hey, can you pass me the glue?" I asked. It was getting dark outside and a glow of yellow lightened up my living room. Arden and I were working on our project for Mr. Fate and we were working on our poster. I was kneeling on the soft carpet and Arden was next to me with a marker, writing the title of the poster. I watched her write the letters on the poster. She wrote slowly and carefully and the letters looked amazing. I glanced at her and her eyes were dark and glowed the sunlight. A strand of her black hair was in front of her eye and she wiped it to the side. I can't believe I'm saying this - I've never thought of this before - but she is truly beautiful.
Ugh, Ryan...you should be helping her right now, I thought. I grabbed a silver ruler and said, "Do you need help with the title? I can put the ruler down so the letters wouldn't be crooked."
"Oh ok," Arden replied quietly. She was very absorbed into her work. I could never ever do that.
I put the ruler under the first few letters she had written and held the ruler in place, trying my best not to move it. Then, Arden had to write the next letter and she moved her right hand over my left hand to write. My hands were getting sweaty and suddenly, I felt the touch of her arm on mine. Oh my gosh, I thought. I started to breathe quickly but tried not to panic. Arden, however, ignored it and continued to write the next letter. I could feel the warmth of her arm that it slightly touched mine. We continued writing and it was quiet expect for the scratchy marker scribbling on the poster board. We were almost done when I accidentally moved the ruler forward because I was leaning too close to the board. Her marker was at the edge of the ruler and I had pushed it with me as I leaned forward. Now there was a huge crooked line on the area where the next letter was supposed to be. Wow. Why did I do that? I ruined Arden's hard work!
Quickly, I looked at Arden and apologized, "Oh my gosh! Arden, I am so sorry. I'm really sorry that I ruined the poster." I couldn't force any words out of my mouth because of the embarrassment and humiliation that towered over me.
Arden stared at the poster board for a few seconds and the. She looked at me and said, "It's okay, Ryan. It's not your fault."
I started to calm down since she wasn't mad at me, but it's still my fault! She's probably mad at me but just not showing it.
"No, Arden. I'm sorry I moved the ruler on accident and it pushed your marker." I explained, trying to make her mad at me because I deserve it.
"Oh, Ryan. We can just use white out!" she laughed as she grabbed the White-Out bottle that was next to her.
"Oh ya..! Haha. But I'm still sorry," I said while scratching my head from embarrassment.
"Don't be sorry, Ryan. It's fine." said Arden.
"Ryan...we should probably start putting White-Out on it," Arden said, suddenly going back to her serious self. I followed her order and tried to not mess up this time. We worked on our project until the sun was down and the moon shines brightly in the dark sky.
"Bye, Arden," I waved as she walked out the door. I waved at her and saw her dad's car parked in front of my house. Arden looked back and waved as she carried her school supplies to her car. I watched her get in the car all the way 'til the car drove away. I looked up at the dark blue sky and my hands on my hips. It's been an awkward but fun day. Arden's really funny and nice if you get to know her. I took a deep breath of the cold, crisp air and walked back inside as I closed the door behind me.A/N: not edited 💘⛵️
