A few days later, Harry had left for his interview with the boys a few hours ago, but Niall wasn't feeling well, so he stayed behind. I took this as an opportunity to get to know him.
"Niall, you want something to eat?" I asked.
"Nah, I'm good, thanks." He said weakly.
"Wow. What is this?" I gasped.
"What?" Niall replied.
"Niall Horan doesn't want to eat. Stop the presses!"
"I'm different when I'm sick." Niall chuckled.
"I can see that." I sat on the couch next to him. "Poor baby, you look awful."
"Well gee, thanks." He scoffed. I laughed.
"I didn't mean that how you think." I pushed some of his blond hair off his sweaty forehead. "You're hot. I think you've spiked another fever; let me get the thermometer." I walked into the kitchen, trying to find it. I texted Harry.
"Hey. Where's the thermometer?"
"Left cabinet over the fridge. Has Niall got another fever?"
"Yeah. I'm taking care of him, tho. Don't worry. See you soon. Have fun at your interview!"
"Oh yeah, right. Such fun. I'll see you soon:)"
I put my phone away and grabbed the thermometer.
"Okay, Niall, put this under your arm." I ordered. He did as I said. It began ticking.
"So how long have you known Harry?" Niall asked.
"Since year 7. I got tripped in the hall between classes and he was the only one who helped me. We've been best friends ever since."
"That's really sweet. I'm really close with my brother Gregg. He's my best friend."
"That's sweet." I smiled. "My brother...Well...he isn't with us anymore."
"Oh. What happened?" Niall grabbed my hand. It caught me by surprise, but it was nice. I let him tangle his fingers in mine.
"Car accident. They were driving and they hit a patch of black ice. Three days after New Years this year. Worst pain I've ever had." My voice cracked.
"I'm sorry, love. I shouldn't have brought it up."
"No. Talking about it kind of helps."
"It does? Oh."
"Yeah." Suddenly, my heart took over my common sense. I leaned down and kissed his cheek. "Thank you. It helps to know someone's here for me."
"Does Harry know what happened?"
"Yeah, he came to the funeral."
"Oh. Layla?"
"Yes, Niall?"
"You can get me something."
"Nandos?"
"Other than that." Niall chuckled. He got up on his elbows and pressed his lips on mine.
I pulled away after 3 seconds with a gasp as the thermometer beeped. 99.7.
"You're getting better." I said.
I heard the door click and Harry, Liam, Louis, and Zayn walked through the door.
"How's Niall?" Louis asked.
"I'm good. I'm really good." Niall said, glancing at me.
Harry looked suspicious, but held me in a tight embrace anyways.
"I love you." He whispered in my ear.
Dammit! Double whammy! Niall kisses me, Harry says he loves me! What am I going to do?!
