"Could you grab me a milk?"
"Yeah, whatever," I called over my shoulder.
I walked through the lunch line grabbing a grilled cheese sandwich, a bowl of tomato soup, and a chocolate chip cookie. I went over to the salad bar and quick made up a salad throwing a couple croutons and a squirt of french dressing. I then walked over to the large fridge, balancing my lunch tray in one hand, slid the door open.
"Whoa there, easy girl."
Kael, adoring Kael with his bright blue, twinkling eyes. "Thanks," I smiled.
Kael opened the door and grabbed two milks. "Need one for Skylar again?" he asked.
"You know it!" I laughed.
He took my tray from my hands and we walked over to the cash register. I scanned my ID to pay, and we walked over to our usual lunch table.
"Did you grab me a milk?"
"Yes, I did Skylar," I sighed.
Kael handed her one of the milks and set my tray down next to his. "You ever gonna pay Analia back? That's what, the fiftieth milk she's bought you this year? Just this year too! She's been doing this for about three years now. I think it's time for you to pay for your own."
"Relax Kael! It hasn't been fifty milks! And I'll pay her back! Eventually," Skylar murmured under her breath.
"That's what you said a week ago, a month ago, a year ago!" I laughed. I picked up my fork and started to dig into my salad.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know," Skylar said.
"Hey y'all,"Aiden, Skylar's one of a kind boyfriend came and sat next to us. He lightly kissed Skylar's cheek. "How's everyone's day going so far?"
"Well... Analia just bought Skylar another milk, yet again and we were just talking about how she still hasn't paid her back since the first day of freshman year. Not a single penny." Kael picked up his grilled cheese sandwich and took a bite.
"I said I'd get around to it. I'll pay her back before we graduate, how does that sound?" Skylar sighed.
"Not to far away, we got a couple more months to go until we are outta here!" Kael whooped aloud making a few heads turn in our direction.
"I still can't believe it! Before we know it, final exams are going to roll around, we're going to graduate, and then we will all be heading off to college! High school has just flown over our heads in a blur. I still remember the first day we all met of freshman year," I said.
*flashback*
Locker doors were being slammed shut. I gave mine a hard slam, books in my hands ready to head to Physical Science. I started to walk but stopped abruptly when I heard an "Ouch!" from behind me. I turned around to see a girl my age with flaming red hair holding onto her fingers. Her books and papers scattered the floor.
I walked over and stooped down to help her pick her things up.
"Thanks. Lockers have always been a struggle of mine." She gave a half smile. "Especially these ones. They don't seen to shut to well on their own."
