Am I not good enough? A young Starlight Glimmer thought as she watched her only friend get praised by his family and all of the town. I should be happy for him not feeling sorry for myself I will tell him I'm proud of him too. "Sun burst Sun burst! SUN BURST'S!!!! I need to talk to you! I'm proud of you to and I just wanted to tell, to tell you congratulations..." No pony seems to notice me. There are way to busy obsessing over his cutie mark.

"By mom" "See you later dear!" Starlight excitedly ran to Sun bursts house eager to congratulate her best friend on his new cutie mark. "Is Sunburst home?" "Oh Starlight, I'm sorry but we were so proud of his cutie mark and new found talent that we sent him off to magic school. We are very sorry but he left you this note." Sunburst mom handed over a small envelope.

Dear Starlight,
You were the best friend any pony could ask for but not I get a chance to really show off my potential. We should have an open house in a month and I hope over winter break you could come. It would mean a lot to me if you did. I'm sorry I did't say goodbye in person I couldn't. I didn't have the courage so I hope you can come so we can see each other in person.  You friend Sunburst

Starlight couldn't believe what she had just read. Her eyes filled up with tears as she ran from her best friends house crying while Sunbursts mom yelled for her to stop and come back. She slammed the door to her room and sobbed into her pillow. How could he just leave me like like? She wondered angrily. YOU WERE MY BEST FRIEND!!!!!! Starlight spent the rest of the night alone and miserable. She was intent on skipping dinner but her mom had other plans.

"Starlight Starlight Glimmer come down her please!" Starlight rolled over in bed and begrudgingly made her way down stairs. "You didn't tell me that Sunburst had left for magic school." "Well yeah he did." "I'm so sorry" "don't be" "but Starlight you must miss him." "Especially the way you were crying earlier." Sunburst mom chimed in.

"Starlight! Sunbursts open house is tonight you had better get ready." "I'm not going." Starlight stated plainly. She had shut herself off from the world and had no intent of rejoining it now. "Why not Sunburst will be so disappointed!" Just like I was, now it's your turn to be disappointed. That's fair isn't it. "I don't want to! I..." What's a quick believable lie? "I don't feel good."  "Oh I'm sorry dear what's wrong?" Well aside from a broken friendship? "My stomach hurts!" "I'll get the pepto bismol and see if you will feel better in time to go to the show." "Do you feel better now?" Starlight mom asked. "No I don't think I can make it to the show." "Oh I'm so sorry dear well you better go lie back down and I will check on you later. Feel better!" "Yeah" Starlight said over her shoulder as she headed back up to her room. "I wish every pony would stop saying I'm sorry." Starlight grumbled.
