Chapter 1:

Another summer had just passed and it was first day of school.
I woke up at 6, slowly opening my eyes. Sigh, it was so early. But I had to get out of bed because my mom would kill me otherwise. I got dressed, did my makeup and brushed my teeth. I quickly brushed my wavy chocolate brown hair as I ran down the stairs to grab my backpack and earbuds.
I wanted to keep my look simple yet stylish so I decided to wear black high-waisted shorts and a simple black t-shirt with some golden jewelry along with my black Dr. Martens. I hugged my mom goodbye, walked out the door and closed it behind me.
The weather was sunny and it was still hot even though it was late summer and you could feel a light breeze.
I walked past a small lake where a mommy duck and her babies were swimming. I was blasting 'Sex' by The 1975 trough my earbuds. I felt so alive at this point.
I walked past and old lady who was walking her dog. She smiled at me and I smiled back at her.

It was a 15 minutes busdrive and when I got back to school for the first time after the holidays I was greeted by my friends, Jocelyn and Paige. I hadn't met them in a long time. Well, actually we had a sleepover at my house a few weeks ago but I hadn't med them since then.
It felt great to be back at school, see all the familiar faces but also some new ones.
We met our teachers, got note pads, pencils etc. We stuffed our backpacks with all the new school material and went to lunch.

At 2pm I finally was on my way home. I was so tired and I tried to decide whether to fall asleep or stay awake.
I decided not to fall asleep so I struggled to keep my eyes open all the way home.
When I finally got back home, I dropped my backpack to the floor and took my shoes off.

A few hours later at dinner my mom asked me this really confusing question.
- Do you miss your childhood? She asked.
- Well, I do sometimes but I like that I'm finally allowed to do more stuff without getting into trouble. I simply replied.
- Oh. It just seems like it. She smiled sadly at me.
- Why? I'm good how things are at the moment. I said, a little annoyed.
- Don't act so rude, Abigail. We just got new neighbors. That's all. She said and continued eating her dinner.
What? We haven't had any neighbors since Cody and his family moved out 10 years ago.
Who could it be? I questioned myself.
