"I don't give a shit 'bout what you have to say about this, Mia! If you have a problem with Reece joining us, then I suggest you leave," I retorted back to her snarky comments, crossing my arms, glare resting on my face.
She stared back at me.
But not with defiance, or a deep glare. With a horrified look. Like she genuinely thought I was about to kick her out of the group. Mason instantly stepped in. "Hey... I know she can be a bitch, a lot, but you can't kick her out, Ash." I scoffed. Of course I could. I was the leader. They followed me. And Reece was not getting out of my sight after what happened at the party.
"The hell I won't, Mason. I won't have a problem with kicking you out either. If any of you complain about her after this point," I grinned maliciously almost, "it's bye bye to you!"
They all stared at me, absolutely horrified, then quickly nodded. I believe my point got through to them and they knew what would happen to them if they left. They'd become one of the Invisibles. The clan of geeks, unpopulars. They would be the targets after that.
We sat around the Aux Gym, ditching class, when Connor walked in. I never really saw him up close before. Not without him either being high, drunk, or on some chick. He was actually very cute. He could be a Primadonna without even trying. And with how close he is to Reece, he just might have to be. Or we get rid of him. Either way is fine by me.
"What the hell are you doing with Reece?" He glared at all of us, standing extremely close. I'd almost think too close, but from what I've heard, Connor wouldn't be scared of any of us. I'm sure he had actually been slightly amused, challenging the Primadonnas.
"We've done nothing wrong. Unless her becoming part of the group is a problem to you." I smiled at him. He gaped at me, clearly confused still, even after he came over to my house with her.
I guess when Reece said she wouldn't tell anyone she really meant it.
"I-" he started then shook his head, clearing his mind. "If you hurt her in any way, shape, or form, I will not hesitate to beat the hell out of any of you."
Mason and Kellin being the way they are, immediately flexed, trying to scare him. And Connor being the way he is, laughed. Laughed so hard that I think he had trouble breathing after, like he had just ran a marathon. The boys jumped up, about to beat the hell out of him for testing their manliness. But I smacked both of their legs and they sat back down like the defeated puppies they are. My boy toys. Minions.
I sighed and pushed myself up, grabbed Connor's hand, walked to the other side of the room. "Listen... Reece is in possession of a huge secret of mine. And it needs to stay a secret. So she has to join the Primadonnas. Do you understand?" He swallowed hard then nodded. "Good. I will make sure that none of them lay a single finger on her. And I'll also make sure that Idiot 1 and Idiot 2 don't mess with you. K? K." And at that, I shoved him back away.
When I turned around, Sam was practically on top of Kel. I shook my head, frowning and looked down, tracing the part of my leg where I knew they pierced my skin.
A dark red line now, kind of a scab, healing into a scar.
No one knows. Not besides Reece.
The others can't know. We aren't that close. And I don't want their noses poking around in that part of me. Plus they'll start thinking I'm weak. And then they won't listen to me anymore.
I sat back down next to Calla and flipped my hair over my shoulder, smiling at them and listening to the conversations.
But the whole time I was running my thumb along my jean covered thigh where the dark blood red lines carved my tan skin.
The bell for lunch rang and we reappeared in the halls, eyes following us. Whether it was from the girls that either a, wanted to be us, or b, envied us (or wanted the boys), or the other way around for the boys at this school. There's also the group that hates us for using them then throwing them away, but also want to get to us again.
We sat at our usual table, and I spotted Reece, waving her over. She hesitantly walked over, sat in a seat between me and Shane. Shane looked over and smiled sweetly at her, genuinely sweet. He was always the nicest out of all of us. She blushed suddenly, aware of the fact that he was freaking gorgeous, and smiling at her. But she smiled back anyway. Very shy about it, but she smiled. The rest of them glared at her though. I leaned over and smiled at her. "Hey! How are you?"
Reece bit her lip hard, so hard that it almost started bleeding. "Uh... Um... I'm good..."
I smiled sympathetically at her and whispered, "I'll make sure they're nice to you. Don't worry, okay? And Shane seems to like you. He's sweet and cool. It'll be okay."
She still looked uncertain, and confused, extremely confused. I'm not really nice to most people. Actually almost no one, but there's reasoning behind it. So I understood her confusion.
Everyone started talking, and Shane was talking to Reece. She eventually relaxed around him at least.
I didn't really talk to anyone, just sat there, running my thumb along my jeans where the lines were.
Reece reached her hand over, grabbed mine, pulling it away from touching the cuts, and squeezed lightly.
