Lunch time. One of the worst things ever. One of the main things is the food is always horrible. The most humiliating thing is where to sit. I haven't really made many friends these past few periods. At least not any that I can sit with. I stood there with my water and apple in my hand looking out into the room looking for an empty table for me to sit. I couldn't see any.
To my right I saw the girls I saw earlier this morning. The one with the red hair was sneaking glances at me and whispering to the other one who was facing me. I suddenly felt very insecure and thought back to Teresa. I quickly looked away and decided that I'd just go up to the library and try to catch up.
"Hey, you!" Someone called out to me. I turned around to see the red haired girl walking towards me. I think her name was Tara or something she was in a couple of my classes. So was the girl next to her. What do they want? I thought. I didn't even know they knew I existed. I didn't think I made that big of an impression.
"Hey, we couldn't help but see you were having troubles finding where to sit." The other girl next to Tara said. My brows furrowed the slightest at how nice they were being. What did they see in me? My grip tightened on my apple as I looked around and saw people staring at me. I hated being stared at. Especially not by those "popular" people.
"I'm Tara and this is Ming. I saw you in a couple of our classes and I know how much it sucks being the new girl. So we're lending a hand. A friend's hand." She explains and smiles sweetly. A small smile comes to my face but with my mile high walls built, I'm still a little hesitant.
"Thanks, that's really nice but I uh have to go to the library today. I'm so far behind. Maybe tomorrow?" I decline. Tara's face falls but only the slightest. She shakes her head and looks at Ming before looking back at me. She sighs deeply.
"If you insist. But Ming is a brainiac at like math and science, and when it comes to language, I'm tres couramment. That means very fluent in French. But I also know Spanish and a bit of Mandarin." Tara offers. They're being very nice and I know I should accept but I actually really wanted to go to the Library. Check out some books and catch up with the free-time I have.
"Thanks, and I'm seriously considering to take you up on that offer but I really did need to go to the library. Tomorrow?" I answer as I slowly walk backwards out the cafeteria. Tara and Ming both grow big smiles and I smile back. Hopefully I see them again today. They seem like nice girls. The kinds that make the bestest of friends. Just before I turn around I hear one of them yell my name but it's already too late.
Just when I'm fully around, I hit something hard then only seconds later, something wet. I let out a loud gasp as I feel a can of soda spill on my jacket and my face. I take a quick couple of steps back out of the crash zone but it doesn't help that my gray jacket is now stained with red soda. When my eyes open, I look and see my jacket is now unwearable. I can't take it off because of my crop top underneath but I can't wear it. Maybe the nurse can loan me something?
I look at the source of my crash and see the one person I didn't want to. Of course it was Jay. He looked at me with a scowl but then his face softened when he noticed it was me. It wasn't until then that I noticed everyone staring. My face went pale and my stomach knotted. A lump made itself noticeable in my throat and it took everything in me not to cry.
I looked at Jay who had a ghost of a smile and although his eyes screamed he was sorry but I could also see the amusement. I shook my head before trying to walk out. I was unable to do so because Jay stepped into my way smoothly. I stopped just in time to prevent another mishap. I was shocked though. Why is he doing this? I looked up into his eyes and took a step back so we wouldn't be so close.
