"Matthew you idiot." Aiko and I lay him on the tailgate of my truck. My dog, Nico, glares at him.

"Be nice Nic. I'll move him later." I lean against the side of the truck. "What happened? He's usually a happy drunk."

"Some guy talking crap. Mat didn't like it and next thing I know, they were in each other's faces."

"Well that explains that." I look down at the partially passed out blonde, a ghost of a smile gracing my face.

"So who was the dark haired beauty you were dancing with?"

I laugh awkwardly. "Oh. Oh him. Um...He said his name's Riki."

"Where was he from?"

"Didn't ask. But certainly not from around here."

"Well you gonna see him again?"

"Wasn't planning on it." I'm looking everywhere but her, trying to avoid the intense blue stare. "He's not exactly my type."

"So you didn't get his digits?"

I facepalm. "Of course I didn't. Like I said-not my type."

"Right cuz apparently you got a thing for guys with brown hair and brown eyes..." I glare at her. "And a certain blonde, green-eyed twin." Her smile doesn't falter.

"I hate you."

"No you don't. And what is it exactly that's holding you back?"

I shrug my shoulders, looking at everything but her. "I don't know. Just don't think it's the right time." It's cuz I still have feelings for a certain brunette. A certain brunette who I might see here shortly. Dammit, I'm not prepared for their shit.

"Mhm. Hasn't anything to due with the fact that you might be scared?"

I jerked my head up. "Scared of what?"

"I don't know. You tell me."

"If I knew, I'd have handled it by now."

Hell, life with him would be relatively normal compared to dating the Black Fox sniper.

Right?

I push my glasses up on my head, pinching down on the bridge of my nose and sucking in a deep breath, clearing my head. "Why is the 28 year old giving the 30 year old advice?"

"Because I'm wiser than my age." I turn to look at Mat as he groans. "You might wanna go ahead and take him home. Stick him on the couch."

"I'm sticking him in the bathtub. Saves me a cleanup if he pukes."

"Harsh much?" She laughs.

"Meh. I'm practical." I shrug and pull him into a sitting position. "Help me get him in the back seat."

"Do's you twos knows y'all's purdy?"

Aiko nearly drops him from laughing so hard and I giggle. "Thanks, Matthew." I get him situated in the back seat. "Y'know, for hating the accent as much as he does, he sounds southern as Hell."

"That's why he hates it. Good luck with him Jess."

"Yea. If he gets too annoying I'll just knock him out and tell him he hit his head when he wakes up."

"Jess!" She shakes her head. "That's mean."

"But effective."

"Oh whatever. Be safe on the ride home. Call if you need anything."

"Will do Bosslady. Adios amiga." I shut my tailgate and load Nico into the front seat. I then head down the road.

Later that same evening

I lay in my bed, my dog snoring over my legs, and I look to the ceiling. What they hell could they have possibly wanted?

Why are they out here in the middle of nowhere? What type of mission could they possibly have to deal with here?

No use worrying about it now I suppose. I close my eyes and attempt to sleep.
