Delilah's P.O.V
"That will be £3.67." I sighed lazily as the woman handed me a £20 bill. Starbucks was a crappy job with awesome pay.
"Keep the change. You need it..." She smirked and muttered the last part.
I rolled my eyes and yelled slightly, "NEXT!".
A man, probably in his 20's approached the counter with a handful of change.
"I would like...hm, Phil, you go first..." He murmured. Phil, huh. Cool.
"I'll just take a large coffee, 3 sugars, no milk." He said confidently.
"Um...I'll have...the um..."
"Dan, seriously?" Phil sighed. "He'll have a caramel frappe."
I nodded and said, "£7.34 please."
Dan-I guess-started sorting through his change, setting a quarter on the counter every so often.
People behind started whispering to their friends and I flushed red with embarrassment.
"Hurry up..." I leaned over and muttered with a fake smile.
"One sec." Dan replied.
He pulled out a few more quarters and sighed.
"Is that all you HAVE?" I snapped.
"Yeah..." He said sheepishly.
People were getting annoyed, and it's safe to say so was I.
"Just go and wait at table 5, I'll talk to you when everything dies down." I said. I handed them back their change and shooed them over to the table.
~Closing Time~
"Have a good day!" I say to the young girl. She happily skips off with a cookie in her hand. Her mother takes her and and before leaving the now almost empty store, turns around and says, "Thank you." Their tattered clothing and matted hair explained how thankful they could be when I didn't charge them full price.
They were about £1.76 short, but I gave the cookie to the girl for what she had, which was £1.14.
It warmed my heart to see people doing kind things for less fortunate.
I sighed.
Dan and Phil walked up to the counter. Shoot! Forgot about them!
"Soo whatya wanna talk to us about?" Phil said.
"You didn't have enough change. And if you did you were holding up the line. Customers get angry, I can't afford to lose their service because of you two dopes."
"Your point being?" Phil replied.
"You either come with proper money next time, or there won't be a next time. Got it?" I growl.
"Yeah, okay." Dan mumbled.
I rolled my eyes and shoved them out if the store, flipping around the 'OPEN' sign on the door to say 'CLOSED'.
