There I was, stirring up the life in the night with my immortality. The moonlight coming in through the trees that towered above me seemed to give me power. Rushes of excitement filled my mind. The cold night air brushed my body. Shivers ran down my spine as I walked across the mushy woodland ground. My moving came to a stop. I held up my amulet from around my neck and looked into the reflection. I stared down at my snow white hair, pale skin, and silver eyes. I smiled. Although disappointed on my looks, I didn't let it effect my rush. It was feeding time. I ripped the amulet from around my neck, making the pre-loosened clasp unhook. I set it down carefully on the ground.

"Can't stop me from being me..." I whispered. My body then took the form of a small feline. As I walked forward, I morphed into a bear. I ran through the woods, turning corners and feeling alive. I lifted my head and let out a roar. Then all of the sudden, I smelled blood. My eyes grew large. I morphed into a fox and ran towards the scent. Little did I know that my life was about to be completely turned around.

As I got closer and closer to the smell, I realized that it was the scent of a human corpse. When I approached the aroma, I witnessed a large man dumping a body in the woods. He was windswept with large blue eyes and dark auburn hair that shined with health.

I growled to get his attention. Once we made eye contact, I went back to my human form. My long hair covered my bare body. I approached the man with authority. He remained still, for he was in complete shock of my ability to shape shift. He gave me an idea.

It had been years since I had human contact. I was longing for some excitement in my life, and humans were so interesting. So I decided open up to that man in hopes of him leading me to civilization.

I grabbed his head and pulled it towards me. I whispered in his ear, "What, you've never seen a shape shifter before?" He fell back, crawling away from me. I shifted into a bat and flew high above his head to land  in front of him. My body took the form of a snake and I  slithered to his body. I wrapped my powerful muscles around his torso, but remained loose, trying not to suffocate him. I turned back into a human and sat on top of him, pinning him down. Although my human body was small and weak and he could easily push me off,  it showed my dominance over him.

I saw the liveliness in his eyes. I touched his face and said, "Shhh, I'm not going to hurt you. I just need you to do me a little favor." I rolled off of his body and landed in the grass beside him.

"Take me with you. I don't care where, just take me with you."

Before I knew it, he stood up and was pointing a gun at me.

"WHOA! WHOA! Calm down," I fussed, "I said I wasn't going to hurt you."

"Who are you?!" he yelled with an Irish accent.

"I'm Katrina," I said with a smirk, "Listen, I have more power to kill you than you do to me. Go ahead, shoot me. I dare you." He lowered his gun, knowing he couldn't murder me.

"Ah, wise choice," I said, "Now. Lets get rid of this body so you can take me wherever you're going."

"Wait, I never agreed to that--"

"Take me wherever you're going!"  I interrupted. He didn't dare argue any longer. He put his gun up and began dragging the body further into the woods. I walked along side him.

"Do you fear me?" I asked.

"I fear nothing."

I smiled. "Is that so?"

Once deep enough into the woods, he dropped the body. He wiped of his hands and looked over at me. "Aye," he responded, "So what are you and why do you want to come with me?"

"I am a shape shifter, and I want to come with you because I've lived outside of society for way too long. I need excitement in my life. Ya think you can give that to me?"

He looked down, thinking of a proper answer. He lifted his head. "I suppose."

"Ya promise?" I asked with large begging eyes.

He stared, probably because I showed my first sign of weakness. I showed him that I depended on him, that I needed him to say he promised.

"I promise," he said with a soothing voice, "Now, lets go before cops show up."

"Hold on, I got to get my amulet." I shifted into a bird and soared high above the trees within seconds. I saw something glisten in the corner of my eye, so I swooped down to retrieve my amulet. Once I had it, I carried it in my mouth back to my new acquaintance.  I morphed back into a human in the air and landed on my feet right in front of him. I put on amulet, then looked up to him.

"So... What should I call you ?" I asked.

"Angus. Angus O'Reilly," he said, beginning to walk.

"So Angus, where are we going?"

"I'll have you know that I'm not your average person. I'm an assassin. We're going to my headquarters."

I smiled. "Ooo, interesting. I think I'd make a fine assassin. Can I join you on your missions?"

"Do I have a choice?" he said.

"Right..." I responded.

The rest of the walk was silent. Angus led me all the way to a large black van parked in a small ditch along the edge of the road. The moonlight reflected in its side beautifully. It was the first time I saw a vehicle in many years. "Whoa," I whispered. Angus looked at me, smiling. "Nice, isn't it?"

"Yeah,"  I said in awe.

Angus awkwardly cleared his throat. "Do you, uh... want some clothes?"

I looked down at my bare body.

"Oh ,  yeah. You got any?"

"They're in the back." He went around behind the van and opened up the large doors. I peeked inside, where I saw guns, ammunition, and a brown sack. Angus grabbed the bag , pulling out clothes from inside it.

"Here you go. You can get dressed in the back." I entered the van and began getting dressed. I heard the doors close behind me and I then heard the engine start. Once I was dressed in the baggy dark-colored men's clothing, I crawled up front with Angus. Once I was up front, I felt the whole vehicle move around me. It was a strange feeling; to move along a road without actually moving yourself.

"I know you're scared of me," I began, "you just won't show it."

Angus was silent.

"Why don't you show fear?"

"Because, Katrina, I'm an assassin. I'm trained to have no fear, no emotion."

"You can't train someone's emotions away."

"That may be true, but you can be trained to not show emotions."

I stared at him, wandering what feelings lay underneath his emotionless face.
