When we arrived to the lake, there was something moving around in the woods, so I walked over to see what it was, with Cheyenne right behind me. All of a sudden someone grabs onto me and lifts me into the air. I look down to see it was Allen. He was smiling from ear to ear, and staring right at me. When he put me down, I started chasing after him, and attempted to push him into the lake, but we got so out of breath we collapsed by the basket of food Allen had prepared. He sat out a container of mashed potatoes with brown gravy, chicken livers, and a piece of peanut butter pie. All my favorite foods! "Cheyenne, how was your dinner?" I asked " it was great! I think I'm going to head up to the house, I am going to help Pop clean up the barn." "Okay. Tell Mamaw I will be home around dark" and with that she started walking up the trail. After we finished eating, Allen picked up the containers and put them all back into the basket and then grabbed me by the waist and pulled me close to him. "Will you be my girlfriend Ellie May Sampson?" I had been waiting for that question for a while now. So I knew that I couldn't not say yes. "Why yes I would love to be your girlfriend Allen Carter Michael's!" He then stood up and grabbed my hand to help me up. I asked him where we were going and he nodded his head toward the gate that separates us from a beautiful spring that gave us our water supply. As we walked toward the gate we laughed and joked around. Just like we had before we were an official couple. He opted the gate and let me walk in front of him. I waited for him to close the gate behind, and then we started forward. I didn't know if it was too soon to hold his hand so I just kept to myself, but he must've read my mind and just like that he grabbed my hand. We interlocked our fingers and they were a perfect match. We had made it to the spring. Before we knew it we were both drenched in water, and it was getting dark. "Allen I think it's time to head back." "Okay, let's head back to the lake and grab the basket, then we will be on our way to the house." "Okay" what seemed like seconds, we were back to the top of the trail. Nobody from the house could see us, and he pecked me on the lips. I think he knew I was shocked and quickly apologized. I replied saying it's okay. We made it back to the house, said our goodbyes, and there he went, down the long dirt road, in his beautiful black Ford F-250.
