Chapter 3: The Reunion Before Death

        I stared at the photo of my two best friends. Coraline was on my left and Jackson was on my right. We were going to a party for all the teen trainers, because we graduated our training practices for the year, I was only in my second year of adult training. Cor was wearing a plain pink dress with a jean jacket with black flats and Jackson was wearing jeans and a black t-shirt that made his muscles pop. I was wearing jean shorts and a loose blue tank top. I remember that night as if it were yesterday... It was the night I lost Jackson...

" Okay kids smile and say, last week of summer!" My mom smiled and held a camera.

" Last week of summer!" We all smiled and she snapped the picture.

" Oh so cute." She smiled " Go on! and have fun!" She smiled. We got into my mom's car and listened to Taylor Swift, You Belong with me. When we got there, music was blasting and people were cooking burgers, hot dogs, corn on the cob, and everything you could find at a fair. There were games like, dunk tank, and the game where you throw a dart at the balloon. This was my favorite time of the year.

" Come on let's do the dunk tank!" Cor said, she took my hand and we ran. Jackson caught up to us.

" Who's going into the tank?" I asked. I looked at Jackson and so did Coraline.

" No way!" He crossed his arms. Cor and I made our famous puppy dog face. " Argh fine, but I am so getting you for this," He kissed me on the cheek and went up into the tank.

" I'll go first," Cor said. she took out two dollars, one buck for her and another for me. She took a ball and backed up to the red line. She threw her ball and miss. Jackson laughed.

" I'm getting thirsty," He smiled. I smiled back at him and grabbed a ball.

" Oh, If you're thirsty, you are gonna love this," I said and threw the ball. BULLSEYE! Jackson fell into the tank and it was pure gold! Coraline and I laughed, we couldn't stop it was just priceless.

" You guys think that's so funny, how about a hug?" He opened his arms and we ran. He got Cor who was now soaked. He came after me and I hid behind a curtain. I tried to breathe slowly but deeply.

" Gotcha!" cold wet arms wrapped around me.

" Ahhh! Your freezing!" I laughed.

" I know, now come here," He leaned in and kissed me passionately.

" Hey save the porn for later, it sucks that I don't have a date already," Cor smiled. We separated and walked on each side of her. We went to get some cheese curds and pizza. We sat down and Jackson was still damp. I took one bite of my pizza and a brutal scream came from somewhere. Soon it was like a stampede, people were running and I saw vampires. The senior fighters started telling us kids to get out of the area as they passed out guns and weapons to other trained professionals.

" Girls let's go!" Jackson took my hand and I took Coraline's  and we ran, Cor ran faster than all of us she was scared you could see it in her body movements. Everything was going so fast, people were dying and crying. There was so much blood... I felt a burning sensation in my throat, I quickly dug my nails into my palms to distract myself from all the blood, but I lost my train of thought and fell.

" Spencer!" Jackson cried.

" Jackson!" I called back. I was quickly hugged.

" We have to go now!" Jackson picked up Coraline who was crying and holding her foot, she had broken every bone in it, we did the only thing we could do, we ran. It was so loud, everything was happening so fast that it almost seemed like slow motion. I felt hands around my neck, and I was pulled back.
