Oh, you will fly on through the distant skies,
Through eternity, smiling there
The same old smile that I know so well,
When you spoke of God's home... the air
That meant so much to you from the start,
Flying above the earth,
Flying the stairway to Heaven's gates,
Laughing from deep in your heart
Which is stilled now...Forever...
No more to embrace the tenderness found
In this life.
Your spirit is stilled, your breath is stilled,
Your spirit lives on through the strife
Which engulfs the world. You died
To make many, the proud rested people
Who have lived on the earth since the start.
Your death
Was like others', perhaps passing unknown,
But it struck a few home, to the heart
Your plane now has landed
The wheels strike the ground
Of a land where the angels have trod...
So lift off your goggles
Throw back your head
You've crash-landed home, to your God.
