5. Why Goodbyes Make No Sense

We drown again
in these hours
midnight walks
under the city lights
we crossed the street in silence.
I was starting to shiver
from the icy wind
when you said goodbye.

"It makes no sense," I replied.
We don't really break apart.
We are forever connected
in ways we cannot see.

We are both children of twilight
and we are both caffeine at night
we even came from the same stardust
we were pulled
by the same gravity
and we are islands embraced by the same sea.

We just don't notice
we just don't,
but when we did,
we became the things
that gave this world sense.
So don't worry about goodbyes,
let just drown again
in these hours.
Sometime,
perhaps in another midnight walk
under the city lights.
