He was King of Athens but actually a Persian tyrant appointed by Darius to rule Athens. "King Hippius is an unfair ruler" said an Athenian citizen. "Let's overthrow him" said another. King Hippius was kicked out of Athens because of the unfair laws he made. He worshipped Persian gods, Respected Persian authority, and preformed Persian traditions. That was why he was unfair and cruel to the Greeks and was loyal to the Persian King. He obeyed his laws and authority. He submitted to the Persian Kings since he was a prince.
