I’ve always liked being in the ocean more than being in the sky, but when I’m on Cosmo I feel infinite.  Cosmo is my pegasus.  He’s an Appaloosa who’s black with white spots all over his body, even his wings.  Cosmo was a wild pegasus, he lived in the stables at camp but no one could ever get close.  Being the daughter of Poseidon, I was the exception.  Percy and I could talk to horses because Poseidon created horses.  I remembered the many times Percy and I raced on our pegasi over the ocean, letting their hooves hit the water and when were done we’d eat s’mores on the beach…

Thinking about Percy was too painful.  He was the only family I’d ever had, and he was gone. Not dead. Just missing.

Earlier that day Annabeth told me about a dream she’d had the night before- that someone with only one shoe at the Grand Canyon would be the clue to finding Percy.  We were on our way there right now.

“Cosmo, we should probably find Annabeth. I think we’re almost to the Grand Canyon.”

Alright, miss.  Cosmo flapped his wings powerfully and we had a boost of speed.  I spotted the chariot and Cosmo flew up next to it.

“Annabeth! Are we nearly there?”  I called out to her.  She nodded in response.

I felt bad for Annabeth.  She’s known Percy longer than me.  Don’t get me wrong, I love Percy, but him and Annabeth have always been closer.  It’s been a relationship I’ve always been jealous of.

We flew for a few more minutes when we saw the skywalk of the Grand Canyon.  I saw three figures standing and looking straight at us.  There seemed to be two boys and one girl.

Annabeth and Argus landed the chariot and Annabeth immediately jumped out and ran towards the people, her knife out and ready.  I circled Cosmo around the area twice then landed next to Argus.  I slid off of Cosmo and walked over to Annabeth, who had already put her knife away and was talking to the strangers.

“Where is your protector, Gleeson Hedge?”  Annabeth asked.  Well, more like demanded.

A small boy spoke up.  Actually, he wasn’t small.  He was shorter than the average guy- around 5’6 or 5’7.  Heck, he was still taller than both me or Annabeth.  He looked a bit like an Latino elf; curly black hair, cute face, pointy ears, and really deep brown eyes.  He was pretty attractive, to me.  “He got taken by some… tornado things.”

I couldn’t help but smile.  I wasn’t smiling about Gleeson.  I was smiling at how musical this boy’s voice was.  Gods, I had a stupid crush on this boy after seeing him for two seconds.  No. I have no crushes. Percy is missing and that is your only problem.

As Annabeth spoke to them, the boy’s eyes kept moving over to me.  Gods, I hoped I wasn’t blushing.

“Okay, you’re Annabeth.  Who’s that?” The blond boy- Jason- nodded to me.

I felt silly for not having said anything before that.  “I’m Brooke, daughter of Poseidon.”

Immediately after I said my name, the cute boy walked up to me, gave me a stupid grin and shook my hand.  “I’m Leo. Nice to meet you.”  He seemed extremely embarrassed the moment he said that and pulled his hand back.  I don’t know why he said hi to me first.  Maybe he thought I was pretty or something. He seemed to be uncomfortable around girls. Aw.  This guy could totally be my best friend.

“Well, Leo, get in the chariot and we’ll take you to camp.”  He seemed to blush when I said his name. He got into the chariot with Jason, Piper, Argus, and Annabeth.  I worried for a second that it wouldn’t hold, but then I remember that the chariot was enchanted to hold many people at a time.

Time to look for Percy again.
