"The Crystal Empire!" Somepony with a British accent shouted. "It's returned after 1,000 years!" Something in my mind clicked. King Sombra once ruled the Crystal Empire until something happened. My dad said he'd tell me when I was older, but, you know.. We were keeping the crown safe for generations to stop anyone from gaining that sort of power again. But then the changelings... I gasped as my legs began to wobble. There was a black swarm around the shattered, pink bubble. I could just barely make out spotty, dark figures with wings and horns. They swooped through the bubble and ambushed the ponies inside. I couldn't peel my pupils away until sirens started blaring. The empire was fully exposed now, the bubble more of a disappearing eggshell. My mom and sister rushed out.
"Sweet Celestia, Chip!! What the BUCK are you doing out here!?"
Shadow screamed over the sirens.
"You've scared the colour out of us! Now, we have to get out of here! Before they find us."
We had previously trained for this kind of situation. We flew into formation but I couldn't help but take one last peek. There was chaos all around Canterlot. Ponies yelling, crying, running, flying away.. But I looked through and saw the Crystal Empire. Six ponies had just run out of a large building. One purple, one pink, one orange with a cowcolt hat, one white, one blue, and one yellow. Shadow levitated her own body with magic and waved a hoof in front of my face.
"Hello!," she spoke sarcastically. "If you didn't notice, we've got to get out of here!" I snapped out of it.
"Sorry about that..." I said. "Most of the paths seem to be blocked. What's the plan?"
Mom responded.
"Up. If we go far up enough, we can fly out with ease." My jaw fell open. My eyes widened. I was extremely afraid of heights. Strange for a Pegasus, right?
