CHAPTER 4. The New home

After I gave the speech we went to Kmart we searched every square of the store. There were 6 zombies Haylie killed one Jared killed one my Pop killed two I killed one Jordan killed one. Once we pulled the zombies out we started fortifying the place. I looked at the side of the building and realize that the rental car is beside a fence. We cleared out the back of the store and set up the places we were going to sleep they had no beds there so we had to go and get some but we were going to do that later. We unloaded the truck input the drinks and whatever else we had in the back next to where we're going to sleep. I was 100% sure that the blood was mopped up and there were no contaminants left on there so we made a trip to the grocery store that was about 300 feet away. My Pop and Haylie stayed back well me Jared and Jordan went to the grocery store and grab whatever we can get. Outside there were propane tanks and firewood we were going to get those later I told them we went inside and nothing had been touched everything was fully in stock. I told them I am so glad that we had just started moving as fast as we did because within a week this place would have been ransacked. They had charcoal grills at the Kmart so we got charcoal lighter fluid can foods cereal and whatever else thats was packaged they had phone cards there so I decide to get them all and activate them with the cash registers they also PlayStation Plus PlayStation cards Xbox cards grabbed the mall activated them. we were going to use them soon they didn't have a time limit on them. After I was done with that I had about one grocery bag full of cards I grabbed consumables such as gum chocolate bars lighters batteries flashlights and whatever else I could find that was worth taking. I put it in the back of a truck and I found a lock for it with the key so I locked it. I get 3 shopping carts and go along the canned food aisle and I'm just scoop and canned foods after the next beef stew chicken noodle soup tomato soup spinach cream of broccoli a whole bunch of canned foods are just scooped right into the cart I feel one but that's just one shelf so I go into the drink aisle. Jordan had already gotten to that I'm assuming at that point he a knew to get water soda and energy drinks. I walked to the back of the grocery store and I find another pharmacy I filled the cart with all the narcotics they had by I go to the produce section and grab some greens. I go in search of candles they have scented candles not my cup of tea but it'll do. I go where the magazines are and I see that they have pornos I told Jared Jordan come here they leave their shopping carts there and start running towards me. They asked what. I said dude look at this man you see the tits on her Jordan and Jared would like nice. I put a few in the cart. I walk away like nothing happened like I was just looking for a good book to read I found a tip guide on cars I was most certain that they told you how to hotwire a car. They also had a survivor's guide. I grabbed both of them i radiating to see how my Pop and Haylie were holding up. They radio back and say over fine no zombies in sight yet. I replied good just keep a low profile and don't make any sound. Pop replied okie dokie. Haylie replied I'm not fucking stupid. I said I know but you didn't have to get so offensive. I go to look up front and there is a horde of zombies coming our way I quickly yelled Jordan Jared zombies 12 o'clock Jordan said my 12 o'clock is a wall not I said you fucking dumbass my 12 o'clock the front door. I take out my AN-94 and start spraying not aiming I got a few headshots I ran out of bullets like a dumbass. So I went samurai style grab my my samurai swords and started slicing heads off by the time Jordan and Jared got to the door
There were not very few left they look that mean then looked around them and said what the fuck happened here. I told them well you guys were you know looking at stuff I was pissed off because you were being so slow so I took my anger out would you like the kill the last remaining zombies. They replied will leave it to you. I said that's what I thought . so we go back finish loading our carts and get the hell out of there. Once we're back at Kmart we unload and we figure out where we're going to sleep there is a couch there I didn't want that couch I want the couch out of my house so it took the U Haul I brought Jared with me we got my couch out of the house and put it in Kmart. After that we went to sleepies professional warehouse grabbed mattresses and box springs each of us had individual beds mostly singles instead of queenskings whatever you have nowadays space efficiency is number one. So we set it all up and usually kmart has pillows blankets sheets whatever you need for time being they were shitty but they worked. a few hours pass and we get bored I wanted to play some video games but I knew we had to make barricades and put them up. So the only place I can think of that would have would would be the back of Kmart liquor stores and Walmart. There were very few windows that we needed to worry about only then did we realize that the boards are too small and then so we had to go to Lowes and Home Depot. We have my Pop and Jordan stay back at the safe house while we were out to get wood nails hammer tools and whatever else we thought was necessary. While we are on our way there I look around and think are we the only people here I have not yet seen a human. Haley replied the probably out there somewhere. We finally arrived and I seen something that reminded me a call of duty black ops 2 it was a bus that looked exactly like the bus in Tranzit. But just without the wear and tear had seats and windows and then have all the add on stuff like a zombie plow the ladder. Just thinking to myself maybe I should take that bus and make it just like the Tranzit bus in black ops 2 and that is exactly what I did I grabbed all the tools I can possibly want. I busted out the windows took out the seats except for the back ones in the driver seat I got sick boarding and both of the board on to the windows then they had sheets of metal I took that and a welding tool and made it today the bus had armored plating. It's sunset the sun's about to go down zombies are going to be even more hard to see but you'll be able to hear and smell them. Before we headed back I grabbed all the supplies I wanted which was mostly what we needed but I filled up the entire bus with everything I can grab hammers nails screwdrivers sledgehammers sheets of metal light bulbs chains would you name it I grabbed it. We get back to the safe house and nothing was touched Jordan and my Pops were of course chillin out like there's anything better to do like does anything better to do I walked in looked at him and said you do realize you guys could have push the shelf over so that we have more room and they said why would we do that there's no point mint I have replied yes there is we need room so make it. They said fine with sarcasm and laziness in the voice well at least that tell Jordan sound my Pop was like ok. After they were done putting everything to the side I decided to call it a night I pulled the bus and the U Haul truck to where no zombies can get through that way because there was no fortification done yet. We fell asleep fast because it was a tired exhausting day and the next morning everything was left out was nothing was touched the smell is still the same but the noise it woke me up. I go out towards the glass windows and see what was going on. There were at least 10 zombies by the bus. I decide to let him go I didn't want to draw more attention to where we were. I said to myself Zack you gotta think you're in a zombie apocalypse and zombies are trying to eat you what do you do make noise or stay quiet. Obviously I could stay quiet for the fact of the matter is if I would have made 1 teeny tiny mistake it could have cost us our lives everybody was still sleeping I was the only one awake. An hour passes it is 11 in the morning everybody wakes up one after the other first Haylie then Jared then pops then Jordan of course they'll see me standing there looking out the window with a cigarette in my hand Haylie asked me to put it out I took 5 more hits stepped on it and threw it in a corner. After everybody's woken up and feeling up to it I asked them to go with me to Home Depot son do they sell garage doors there my Pops want with me we found the best garage door they had it was tall and long so we but it in the bus regret more supplies for the bus . We get back to the safe house and me Jordan Jared and Haylie turn that thing into a zombie killing machine my Pops is on Lookout while we were making the racket surprisingly none showed up we put armor gun mounts sensors cameras leaving flat spikes on the front and I made a little something I'd like to call the blood flap. We fortify the entrance and leave some exits to wear only people can come out not in. The only way you could ever come in was from the roof.
