Resumé: Karl Goodwill

It's another gloomy day, as gloomy as his life.

He failed his school due to the issue he had. He was bullied by the classmate for being mentally difficult, despite his big stature. He get more unstable as he few times beaten his own classmate, almost to dead. Few times with bare fist, and once with a chair. While the teacher acknowledge his problems and already scold his classmate for bullying him, Karl are emotionally dangerous as he get more and more unstable due to his low esteem and insecurity, often resort to violence. Soon lock himself away from the society and avoid all kind of conversation unless really necessary. Inside, he still had grudge on everyone on his past.

His lack of skill and low education add more problem to his future, not counting his mental issue. He manage to work at Royal Vestige as a crude recruit, without actually receiving any bad treatment. Everyone was trying to help him, but the man only see them as pitying or even mocking his issue, and he hate it. Inside his mind, he only had distrust, worry, and anxiety. His low esteem self and his mind that constantly assuming negative though did not help with his situation.

One day, it was raining, and he didn't felt like going home. He wear a black overcoat and travel through the alley, stumble on a few gangsters and get into a fight. When he return to his sense, his left hand holding a broken beer bottle that he use to stab them, and his right hand holding the head of one of the four man that he killed, this one by being stabbed until his stomach torn apart.

Panicked, he seek refuge on his favorite place where he always seek solitude... The thirteen floor of the hotel where he always spend his free time between his working shift. Everyone avoid it because many think it was creepy and ominous of a misfortune. However, the lack of people in there is what Karl seek, as he always felt disturbed by the crowd and he refuse to socialize with his coworkers.

Shivering in cold and fear, he took solace in an empty unused room, alone, with nothing to do but just waiting, hoping no one realize he was there, hoping the police won't find him and drag him to the prison. He stay there for days, because if he go out now, he sure the sure would get arrested as he leave his fingerprint on the man that he killed.

On the third day, he was so hungry that he almost resort to stealing, yet all the room was locked, and he could only use certain room like the engine room or an empty unused area without anything inside.

He wandered aimlessly with no hope and he don't know what to do. He might just wait until he died out of starvation... until the night when he start to see things. He see a girl in a red dress, guiding him into a dark room, a room that suppose to never been there.

Inside, he found salvation. She's the one who saved him, she said it's all would be alright, and she promise him that one day, he could had his revenge on everyone that he hate. He would be superior beyond any other worthless human being who always look down on him.

As he accept her offer to help her, she then told him the truth of what happened in there...

On that day, Karl become the very first person who went missing on the thirteen floor.

Four years later, he returned, and that day is the promised day for the slaughter that he waited for...

Karl Goodwill then murdered 15 out of 22 people that unfortunately trapped on the first floor, before he killed by the very man that suppose to be his main target among all the other victim of his territory.

And so, he became the first among the thirteen to died...

Author's Note

This chapter depict a flashback that contained the background and in-depth information about Karl, to let the readers know the character background better.

Resumé is a special additional chapter that did not counted as the main chapter, (the last chapter are number 4, and the next chapter are number 5, so this one didn't counted as one) as the are optional to the story and simply had meant to let us all see a character with different perspective related to their life, before the main event of the story happened.

Since the story related to hotel and their employee, I try to made a special chapter with a related terms. At first I want to named it as "Revise" or "Revision", but it could get misleading and made my potential readers to mistook it as an actual revision to the story.
