I was walking home from play rehearsals at school one night. It probably wasn't the best idea to be walking alone after dark in St. Louis, but taking the train was worse. Suddenly, as I walked past a dark alleyway, I was roughly grabbed and pulled into the shadows. I tried to fight back, but I was outnumbered at least five to one. I was quickly overpowered, and my attackers tied my hands together and threw me into the back of a van. I swore loudly. This was not good. I kicked at the door, trying to get out, but I heard a gun click on the other side of the door. "If you want to stay alive, my dear, I suggest you stop trying to get out." a voice said. I stopped. "Good girl." the voice said, chuckling. "Now, make yourself comfortable. It's gonna be a long drive." I heard the driver's door open and close, and the van started moving. After a long while, whether it was hours or days, I couldn't tell, the van stopped. The door was opened and a group of men stood at the doors. They were all wearing black clothing and ski masks, so I couldn't see their faces. One of them pulled me out of the van, and I hit him square in the jaw. He staggered back, cursing. I turned to the others, ready to fight, but one of them already had a pistol pointing at my head. "Get her hands behind her back." he ordered. The others did as they were told, untying my hands and cuffing them behind my back. "What do you want with me?!" I yelled. "You bloody bastards!" "Gag her too." the man with the pistol said. "And blindfold her." the others did as they were told yet again. "You're late." a deep, menacing voice said. The voice had an accent that I couldn't place, but that sounded vaguely Asian. "Sorry, Boss." one of the men said. "She gave us more trouble than we anticipated." "No matter." the deep voice said. "Get her in. We've got to get them to base." Them? There was another person? "Yes, Boss." one of the men said. I was dragged over somewhere, my blindfold was taken off, and I was thrown into the cargo hold of a plane. There was a single, very grimy window casting light into the hold, and by that light, I could see my fellow prisoner. She had short brown hair, and her hands were tied in front of her. "Do you want me to take your gag off?" she asked. I nodded, and she took the fabric from around my mouth. "Thanks." I said. "No problem." the girl said. She looked like she was my age, maybe a bit younger. "What's your name?" she asked. "Thalia Skywalker." I said. "Yours?" "Lara Kaylen." she said. "Nice to meet you, Lara." I said. "I'd shake your hand, but...well, mine are kinda cuffed behind my back at the moment, which makes that a bit difficult." Lara laughed. "So why are you here?" I asked. Lara shrugged. "I dunno." she said. "I was walking home from school when someone grabbed me and shoved me into the back of a van. And now I'm here." "Same thing happened with me." I said. "Weird." "Yeah." Lara said. "So, do you play soccer?" "Yup." I said. "I'm a forward. You?" "Same." Lara said. "I'm guessing you follow the US Women's National Team?" "Semi-religiously." I said. "Who's your favorite player?" Lara asked. "Tobin Heath." I said. "She's my crush. Who's yours?" "Alex Morgan." Lara said. We passed the time in this manner until we landed. "Now, you two dears come with us." one of the men said. he grabbed my upper arm in a viselike grip and pressed a gun to my head. "You'll be with me, dear." he said. "And if you try anything, I will kill you. Got it?" I rolled my eyes. "Okay, mom." I said sarcastically. The man hit me across the face. "You watch your mouth, brat." he growled. "Another comment like that could send you to an early death." the men brought Lara and I to a cell and chained us to the wall. I swore again. "My sentiments exactly." Lara said.
