chapter 2. The trap

The girl awoke with a sudden breathless gasp. She stared, silently at me and then at my shadowy burrow. She was silent, Speechless, and as pail as a ghost. She finally told me, "they're after us." "Somethings changing for us, I don't know what but it is." Then she quietly went back to sleep.

She woke around ten minutes later this time yawning loudly and saying, "it'ill all be ok, everything's going to be alright." Was this some sort of joke or a trap? Nothing here is making any sense! The girl looked at me calmly and asked whats your name? I told her I didn't know, that none of us did. But she told me hers. My name is Elizabeth.

Ok so you made up a fake name I replied. "All of us have". No she said. This is my real name, from birth. I am 17 years old. How can that be? Only unity can remember, wait you're from unity are you not? Aw Elizabeth said with a slight smirk on her face. ¨I thought it would take you a little longer to figure out.¨

What where you saying before, about them? About them coming after us? I asked. I don't know what your talking about she said. Why are you here then? Why do you think?

From those 4 short words I ran. And i didnt stop running until I got to the edge. The girl along with 4 extra body guards approached me. The crumbling rock of the edge about to let loose. I lost my chance to get out through the gate but the edge leads to the same place. Just a longer fall down.

The girl told me that they had been watching me all along. Watching me plan. She said That they all knew I wouldn't have come easily so they had to set a trap. Thats why it was so simple for her to get into my area.

The slasing waterfall drowned out the sound of the rest of whatever the girl from Unity was saying. It was a gamble wether to jump... Or have Unity take me for whatever reason they want me. So I jumped.

The wind gushed past my face like a million bees stinging me all over my body. It was a long way down. You couldn't see the bottom if you stood at the top. And after 3 seconds I was still falling. At 6 seconds I finally plumeted into the deep dark lake.

I struggled to hold my breath for the amount of time it took me to get back up. I hurtled into the water at such speed that when I hit the water It felt like hitting concrete. And Because I fell with such speed I went deep down into the freezing lake.

When I finally managed to crawl/swim my way out of the lake I gasped so hard for breath. Then I realized. I'm in the grim. I had been planning this for ages but I wasn't ready for it when that "girl" came. So when I plunged my body into the deep black and lifeless lake I didnt know what I was supposed to do.

I had no food no water no medic kit, and I had no way of tracking where I was because my hand built compass and survival kit was back at the burrow.

It didn't worry me about the Grimsons out there waiting for me to walk into their trap.I am the imune remember. It was all of the other death traps that Unity had set up to stop anyone from getting through the gates at the other side. Including hidden cameras watching us like the whole thing was Unitys weekly tv show. Whatever was behind those walls would be our savior, but Unitys destruction. I have one chance to end all of this and at the same time one shot at keeping myself alive.
